The Text

The auto-generated translations were done using Google and Amazon's translation services. The Yandex and IBM Watson translations were terrible, not worth trying to use.

The ./book directory in the repo contains the contents. If you find a problem or want to help, please feel free to submit an issue.

The Code

The initial translation code is in this repo. To build the book, run ./build.sh. You will need Docker.

To release a new edition, update the introduction and create a tag along with a versioning commit. Example:

git commit --allow-empty -am v2 && \
  git tag -m v2 -a v2 && \
  git push origin master --follow-tags

Bhante Sujato has expressed interest in adding your translation to SuttaCentral. I understand that your license would allow this, but I'm wondering you are at as far as proofreading and updates.

Convert the raw HTML to Markdown for processing

Write scripts to build for epub, pdf, html, etc

Once everything's cleaned up enough to be readable, it would be nice to build these assets. There's probably a library out there to build for the major formats from Markdown.

Clean up and combine auto translations

This will be the most time-consuming task. There are two translations, one from Google Translate and one from Amazon Translate. Both are pretty rough, but between them there may be enough info to get one workable translation.

Translation with Amazon Translate?

This may or may not have value. Testing here had mixed results.
