Enhancement: discussion forum
Is there dsbridge discussion forum, a thread you follow somewhere or have
plans on opening one?
I would like to know how is DSound.dll wrapper (dsbridge) actually be
loaded at spotify.exe startup. Is it something to do with DSound.dll name
and a working directory, its autoloaded at anyapp.exe startup?

Currently the encoder grabs data as-is from the device, and if it does not
match 44.1kHz stereo it'll sound distorted. Add support to remix data in
those cases.

Great tool. I am using Windows machine but need to switch to Mac soon. It
would be great to have dsbridge available on Mac too.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Please provide any additional information below.

Currently DirectSound 8 is not wrapped, add support for extracting data
from that API as well.

Apparently when windows is not installed in a default configuration loading
the DirectSound DLL can fail. Improve logic that is loading the DLL so that
we do not have to guess the absolute path and instead let the system handle it.

Hi
Any plans for future support for WMP (Windows Media Player) and VMC (Vista
Media Center)?
I have a VMC PC box in the living-room and I's like to stream the PC sound
output to the bedroom.

Currently the stream is transcoded to MP3 continuously; disable encoding
while nobody is actually listening.

Hello,
It would be very nice if dsbridge could support direct realtime id3v2 tag
embedding in to the produced stream. This would nicely allow direct forwarding
/ recording the stream so the the artist - title information is in place.
Also, if other metadata can be extracted (like album picture) and embedded in
to the stream it would be nice.
now the dsbridge seems to send the shoutcast "now playing" data, but if it
could be as and option to embed the artist title directly to the stream it
would much easier to reuse the information.
Thanks,

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start Spotify, stream music
2. Start SqueezeServer, play <IP>:8124
3. Listen...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Music plays the same on squeezebox as in spotify -- uninterrupted.
Also: expect to see 1 DS icon on task bar.
Actual: music plays for a short while, then pauses. Squeezebox display (on
actual squeezebox device) shows "Rebuffering...". After buffering, music
continues.
Also: See 2-3 DS icons on task bar. Currently: 1 red, 1 green.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DSBridge 20090727
O/S: Windows 7, 32bit
Already tried:
boosting task priority of Spotify, Slimserver
disabling local firewall
Adding port forwarding on router for 8124

When audio is playing back on the SqueezeBox the stream will slowly drift
from what the original software is playing.
Determine why this is the case:
* Are we sending too much data
* Does the playback Hz not exactly match the input
* Any stalls that occur

1. Install packages and start Spotify and start to play a song on my PC
2. Connect to stream through http://[ip]:8124 on my TVIX HD M6500 (via a
playlist)
3. After a couple of seconds I hear the music, and then it stops playing after
about 3 seconds
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It works fine if I use Winamp on the same machine and connect to the
HTTP-stream.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest DSBridge, LAME 3.98.4 on Vista Business x64

UPnP, but with the same result.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to use dsbridge to stream the service wimp (www.wimp.no)
I can supply you with login to test this if required
Alternatively test any other aac playback.
I get "bad file description" on my squeezebox when attempting to stream wimp
(which uses AAC64 and AAC256). The same setup works fine with spotify.

Running itunes on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
I assume the program is suppose to start up and the notify icon is suppose to
give various info about what is going on, but instead the notify icon
disappears after I hover over it (this often happens when applications crash
and explorer doesn't clean up the resources until later)
I am using the latest iTunes 64 bit edition and windows 7 professional 64 bit.
I have attempted to take apart the code and modify it/fix this but I realized
very quickly I have no idea what I am doing.

Would you be able to add the ability to stream to multiple devices? This could
be done via Multi-cast (hard) - or a limited version by re-packaging the code
into a 'hook & receive master module' and a 'distribute module'. The master
module could then read .ini to find out how many instances of 'distribute' to
launch and then do so & pass streamming packets to each. Each instance of
'distribute' would read .ini to find out what IP address to send to.
Thanks for considering this.

Streaming Spotify to EVA1950.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

1. Install latest version of Spotify
2. Use Windows 7 Professional
3. Install lateste version of DSBridge
4. Use Squeezebox Duet with latest software installed
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output (just as it worked on my XP machine) should be that DSBridge
streams Spotify to my Squeezebox. When I try to connect to the IP of my new
(Win 7) laptop though, Squeezebox throws the error "Error on HTTP socket: Bad
file descriptor". It IS streaming though, because if I stream it to my XP
laptop there is no problem....
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- Spotify 0.8.2.610.g090a06f8
- Squeeze Center 7.7.2
- Windows 7

including lame - not sure this is relevant - but incase.)
2. install TVeristy latest build
3. Stream from Spotify to TVersity- until FIRST advert
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Output becomes 'blippy' after first add. Restarting tversity - it seems ok
again.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Windows 7. Latest stable release.
Please provide any additional information below.
This doesn't happen when you use a more tortuous route of looping back
audio and using icecast. I love the product - but don't get the problem -
must be something to do with the stream?

There is a loosely documented directive
'StreamUrl=http://host/file.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png);' which can be passed as
metadata. Add support for doing window captures periodically and stream
these using the HTTP server.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play music from Spotify
2. Mp3 play music located on local hard drive (crash)
Hi, I followed your steps and it has worked very well. However, the streaming
fails completely when trying to play a song in mp3 stored on the hard disk.
It would be interesting to fix this, because when a song is not in Spotify, you
usually play from the hard disk.
I have installed the latest version of LAME encoder, Spotify, PS3 Media Server
and DSbridge.
Thanks!

While the stream created by dsbridge seems to play fine in winamp, and a few
other players, it seems other players are stuck waiting for something to allow
them to notice it is a stream.
You can test this by starting a stream in spotify, opening the stream in media
player classic, and waiting. The player will start buffering the file,
expecting to reach an eof flag, instead of realising that it is a stream. That
said, MPC can open other mp3 streams such as those that shoutcast utilise.

2. Start Spotify

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
There should be the title of the song and artist with cover art, but none of
these are shown while playing the stream. Sound is ok.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Windows 7 32 bit

I use the workaround to include the dsbridge files in the Flash directory in
order to have sound at all. Could this be related (that dsbridge is unable to
capture the title etc because it is now in another dir?)
