I love Helldiver's KSO, but it got me thinking about the WEKA and the idea of a REALLY small lifting body shuttle(1.25m scale) for crew return and emergency returns from orbit. So after a few abortive attempts at Blender which resulted in the kind of design that should be drowned at birth, I decided to draw on a napkin at work(aren't those always the best designs?).

The idea ~would be~ [was] to keep a very low part count, so ideally it will consist of only 6-8 parts i.e. Fuselage,right and left winglets ,docking port,two oms engines. The OMS engines would be R.C.S fueled so they can share the same internal R.C.S. tanks as the thrusters. The shuttle will seat 2 kerbals in a tandem configuration with hopefully RPM displays(2), as a place holder the MK2 cockpit IVA could be used as config is similar.

The shuttle, when fueled would weigh in at around 1.8 tonnes and due to it's size will fit in a 2.5m fairing which makes it much easier to launch especially for FAR uses. I picture it as being slightly wider that a MK2 cockpit. This is not shown on the sketch but the docking collar will fit on the rear. The compact size means it should fit in a 2.5m cargo bay for carrying on larger ships etc.

A very dear request that will improve this mod by 1000%

The mini shuttle is grand, but there is one issue that makes it worse than grand, and its the landing gear.
It has a terrible invisible ghost hitbox that is very sensitive and badly placed, causing take offs and landings to be broken and explosive 99% of the times, creative workarounds don't work

Firestorm mod sadly is VERY junky on modern KSP and damages many mods without fix, it can be concluded that firestorm is one of those mods that if you install you gotta pass on way too many good modern others, making firestorm obsolete.
Also maybe its even incompatible with 1.12? unsure.

So the issue,
The model hitbox or frame includes in itself those invisible wheels even if not deployed, and that is the massive destroyer explained why below:

If there would be an option to have the Pteron wings detached in the editor, from their current state which are Wings including gears in them, that would be amazing.

It means nothing if they're in or out, its just a decoration apparently, if you simply use stock game and pteron at least.

Employing all the powers of Tweakscale to try and make wheels that overshadow the invisible explosive hitbox still doesn't eliminate the fact that it forces explosions evrey single time the wheels take stress (from the weight of the craft), forcing them to go up n down, thus the invisible STATIC hitbox gets touched and blows up.

(this still blows up, and this is my finest attempt yet after so many tries ever)

So sadly in its current state, other than a space drone and a glider with parachutes to return to kerbin, the craft's purpose is stripped from it by a large portion,
you either gotta give up the wings or give up making it land or take off from atmosphere ground.

pteron is unlandable on kerbin, and un take offable.

valve please fix

Pteron's Docking Collar does not dock while attached to Pteron itself, only when it ''undocks itself'' from the minishuttle

Surprisingly, I've had this issue for quite a long while that when the Docking collar itself is attached to the Pteron, it lacks the function of a docking collar. Which means it does not attract magnetically to any other port, nor it attaches.
It acts like just some random part that isnt meant to dock
UNTIL
You right click on the docking collar, and press Undock, which detaches itself from the pteron, and surprisingly then magnetizes itself to the nearby docking port you've been trying to connect to immediately, and gets itself attached nicely like a regular docking port.

Sadly it seems to refuse to act like a docking port while attached to the Pteron itself, and when disconnected it suddenly regains its docking port properties and function.

To reproduce simply attach that docking collar to the back of the pteron and try to dock to any other port.

SOLVED: All Ship's Sound Effects disappear with this mod installed on 1.12.1 (Engine sound effects and all other parts)

Upon digging, I discovered that this mod in particular causes all sound effects of a ship to simply stop playing, it goes mute. Unless you restart and verify.

Don't have many mods, but I removed each and every, and got to the result of Pteron being the one causing it.
A lovely mod alas, quickly became a favorite grand mod, but with this issue its a problem

Something in the Mod itself causes a corruption of sound effects for some reason. To think of it, I never actually heard the sounds of the Pteron engines, except from the RCS. I might be wrong, maybe that's the reason it removes the rest as well?

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Have the mod on,
launch a ship (With Pteron Tinyship on it, in my case it was docked in ship from launch), play with it for some time, maybe even reload a quicksave, and suddenly no sound for the ship, requiring a restart of the game / verify.

Also I did not have this dependency mod Firespitter, it is causing several problems due to being outdated, so i didnt care much about the wheels, and did not have it on as of now.

Expected behavior
The sound effects will poof.
The ship's engine sounds, and gear movement (legs retracting and extending) to be exact.

''Stowed'' drag on both Pteron parachutes is too big, needs tweaking

Couldn't understand why my Pteron was pitching down in atmosphere 24/7,
All the correct parameters were alligned, TWR was messed with billion of times,

apparently its the drag the Pteron parachutes create, I do not know whether if it is because they got a default stowed drag parameter and since the pteron is tiny it creates more drag since its technically the draggiest item on the shuttle,
(in screenshot you can see that the only other draggy dragger is the radial air intake, and even that is not THAT much)

so I removed them from my pteron, and suddenly the shuttle is barely pitching down and is able to fly straight.

The drag probably needs to be toned down massively, and maybe making them lighter as well. since they cant be Tweakscaled, so its unabuseable considering that if they're tweaked for lower mass crafts like pteron, it'll work well.

Additional feedback note on Pteron in general
I think some other things need tweaking, since flying the pteron in Atmosphere is a hard and problematic task.
Even if you overcome over the shadow wheels that cause crashing into the ground, you'll find the narrowness of the shuttle being horrible for landing, so you need to do a very very soft landing since its so easy to be flipped, especially when you suddenly break.
(I cant imagine the original Firestorm wheels being ANY effective in landing, theres no way they'd land smoothly and not flip the plane with being so narrow. So even with the widest possible wheel placement, its still suicidal to land this shuttle like a normal plane.)

It needs some tweaking to actually feel like a shuttle, it feels like the Pteron isnt packaged ready, its like a model you gotta tweak yourself, not really a slap on the parts and fly, and is very underpowered in atmosphere conditions since its shape and size is just not proportionate by KSP physics apparently. Terrible atmosphere engines too, without the ability to tweakscale they're too weak to carry the bird in the earth sky.
Since engines are weak in atmosphere so you gotta think outside the box to make it work, but then the wheels and its ratio is too narrow so you gotta tweakscale some wheels that dont spasm, but then you cant brake since the plane flips to the side when you hit the brakes.

MiniPuff disappears when restock installed

"I think I have detected a conflict between your mod and Restock/Restock Plus. Your MiniPuff engine does not load when Restock/Restock Plus is loaded.I think the problem may lie with the stock Puff engine which I believe is modified by Restock/Restock Plus. If I delete Stock/Restock Plus the MiniPuff shows up on the parts list in the VAB and can be attached. If I reload Restock/Restock Plus the saved ship shows the standard "missing part" message and will not load."
