I use this driver and recompile the kernel, but avt_csi2 driver didn't work. I can't found device in /dev directory.

how to change the frame rate of camera

while transmitting over network , i could see the frame rate is 109. but when the following command is used: v4l2-ctl -L
i am not able to set the frame rate as i can't see any option. check the parameters below:

Installing Drivers on Xavier NX (Jetpack 4.4) failed

Hi,

I have attempted to install the Xavier NX drivers, but the cameras cannot be recognized (no "video0" in /dev directory). I've tried with both the C-158c and the C-319c cameras from the Alvium range.

I've tried both the Xavier NX Dev Kit and the Production model, but neither have worked. All other features on the Xavier (e.g Wifi/BT) continue to work, but cameras cannot be recognized. Any ideas why this might be?

Could you confirm in which configurations you know the driver works? Perhaps it is only stable with the Jetson Nano?

qv4l2 Segmentation fault

With this new driver qv4l2 segfaults on start.

The driver starts:

tecnox@nano-labo:~$ dmesg|grep ALV

But running qt4v2:

This didn't happened before on Jetpack 4.4.x.

Separate kernel module

Hi,

I had a look at this driver, and for us it is not really usable. We have a different L4T version for the Xavier. While in theory we could switch to this kernel, this is not desirable, and might lead to future problems, since another sensor might require using their kernel, leading to a situation where only one sensor can be used at a time.

A solution to the above problem would be to restructure this camera driver into an external kernel module. This would mean that the sensor driver can be compiled as a kernel module for different kernels. One would require the kernel sourcecode for the specific board, and then download the allied vision kernel module sourcecode and build the kernel module specific for their kernel. This would solve the issue of keeping up with the xavier linux kernel each time a L4T release is made. It would also solve the issue of having to support 4 different git repositories with modifed kernels for each board.

Is this something you could provide?

Regards,
Windel

Missing avt_build/resources/gcc folder ?

Hi,
During the setup step of Master branch (or l4t-32.5.1 branch), there's following error :

/devel/RTR/SW/alliedvision_linux_nvidia_jetson/avt_build/resources/gcc/gcc-linaro-7.3.1-2018.05-x86_64_aarch64-linux-gnu.tar.xz: No such file or directory
>> [F]...Failed to download gcc toolchain from url https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/dlc/l4t-gcc-7-3-1-toolchain-64-bit...
>> Failed...
>> [i]...Script execution...
>> Failed...

It seems that the folder gcc within avt_build/resources/ is an empty folder and was not kept when pushing to github.

Manually create avt_build/resources/gcc helps to resolve the issue. I'm not sure if it is a correct solution.

Best Regards,
Pascal.

Wrong location of deployed kernel modules ?

Hi,

The install.sh script seems to unpack kernel modules into /lib/modules/4.9.201. Meanwhile the default modules location is /lib/modules/4.9.201-tegra. Is it an expected behavior ?

Best regards,
Pascal.

Nvarguscamerasrc

Is there any support for direct gpu capture on Xavier NX? It is disappointing to not be able to take advantage of the gpu with the Alvium and Xavier.

Method A: Use precompiled binaries where is the precompiled tar?

We bought several CSI cameras from your company and we are searching for the pre-compiled driver and tar file.

In your README you wrote:
Method A: Use precompiled binaries

Install the precompiled kernel including driver and installation instructions.
For Jetson Nano, please use the file containing "a02" for A02 carrier boards and the other file for B01 carrier boards.

Extract the tarball on a host PC.

The tarball contains helper scripts and another tarball with the precompiled binaries named AlliedVision_NVidia_L4T_32.5.1_.tar.gz.

It would be useful that we know where we can download the AlliedVision_NVidia_L4T_32.5.1_.tar.gz file?

Instructions are not clear

I think that the README must be updated

  • In prerequisites, it says install JetPack 4.4 (L4T 32.4.2) , however Jetpack 4.4 uses (L4T 32.4.3) . The version that uses L4T 32.4.2 is the JetPack 4.4 Developer Preview

  • Why is necessary to update and upgrade? (Instruction 2). After that you get L4T 32.4.4, and the precompiled kernels are only for L4T 32.4.2

One one camera out of two is initialized on Jetson B01

I am trying to connect two alvium 1500 cameras on jetson nano B01 with two Mipi CSI connectors. I tried the preinstalled 4.2.2 SD image from Allied Vision webpage, and I tried the newest jetpack 4.4 pathced with the alvium precompiled drivers. The 4.2.2 image does not acknowledge the existance of the second csi (as seen by dmesg | grep csi). Also trying the connect a Pi Noir 2 camera to the second CSI plug, fails with version 4.2.2. I have to use minimum 4.3 to use the second csi.

Jetpack 4.4 with alvium drivers gives me the following errors related to "dmesg | grep csi":
[ 1.739567] avt_csi2 0-003c: i2c read failed (-121)

Would you mind restructuring this project so that kerneltree contains only the files you add/change and the rest can be taken from kernel_src.tbz2 provided by Nvidia. Tried to build this against L4T 32.4.3 and not only camera didn't work but also lost Wifi

Bootloader error installing 4.0.0 Driver on Jetson Nano

I'm hoping to use the newly-released 4.0.0 driver on my Jetson Nano Production Module running JetPack 4.6.1 and L4T version 32.7.1, however running the installation script from the precompiled tarball gives the following output:

At a glance, it seems like there is some issue with the bootloader.config file, though I'm not sure how to interpret this. I have used a prior release of the Allied Vision camera drivers (version 2.0.0) on this same device, running JetPack 4.5.1, and I have not seen this before.

Any insights or assistance in installing this latest release for JetPack 4.6.1 would be greatly appreciated.

AVT bootloader package breaks nvidia bootloader

Once the AlliedVision bootloader package is installed and configured (DevKit selected), then this succeeds once. De-installing or re-configuring the bootloader fails. I must reflash the complete Ubuntu OS.

Kernel installation option for 4 CSI-lines camera on Jetson Nano

Hi,

We bought an ALVIUM 1800 C - 2050 for our Jetson Nano. Our requirement was to be able to use the 4 CSI-Lines of the camera module. (not only 2)
So Alliedvision seller tell us to buy a JN30 carrier board from Auvidea for jetson Nano which has a 4 CSI-lines port populated. (Standard Jetson carrier board A02 has only a 2 CSI-lines port and carrier board B01 has two 2 CSI-lines ports)

In the kernel install script, there are 2 options, A02 board and B01 board.
Which option should I use to be complient with the JN30 carrier board and the 4-lines CSI port ?

Thanks

precompiled binaries

Hi,
with reference to https://github.com/alliedvision/linux_nvidia_jetson, I used method B, I installed driver (AlliedVision_NVidia_nano_L4T_32.5.1_4.9.201.tar.gz), and rebooted Jetson (4GB version), but there is no detection of the Camera (Alvium 1800 C-319c color bareboard): no /dev/video* file found.

Jetpack 4.6 support?

Jetpack 4.6 is released, is there any ETA on supporting it?

It introduces tons of features that make downgrading to 4.5.1 not feasible.

Precompiled kernel not working

Recently I got the Alvium Camera kit of the link below
https://www.alliedvision.com/en/products/alvium-camera-kit.html
I am trying to connect to an nvidia jetson nano

I've been trying to make it work using the precomiled kernel in
https://www.alliedvision.com/en/products/software/embedded-software-and-drivers.html

No matter what i try, is not possible to find a video device /dev/video0 is not created. Is there any detailed instructions for installation I am not shure what i am doing wrong.

Also, I found an sd image available for jetson nano but the link is broken

AUVIDEA JNX30-LC compatibility

Hello,

I've two question:

  1. is the Alvium Jetson driver is compatible with the AUVIDEA JNX30-LC board (this card is a Low Cost version of the JNX30-PD board that is listed within the driver compatibility)

  2. Is the AUVIDEA JNX30-PD / the AGX ORIN Developer Kit can be used with AVT ALVIUM cameras without the AVT camera adapter board ?

Thanks a lot.

Possible to use gstreamer with external trigger?

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to use gstreamer with a v4l2src but with an external hardware trigger configured? I was hoping I could set the trigger registers through v4l2-ctl but they don't appear in the v4l2-ctl controls available. Thanks!

How to build module with DKMS?

Hello!
I'm trying to build a module for the BME280 using DKMS and got the following error:

ERROR (dkms apport): binary package for bme280: 1.0 not found

A build log provides the following details:

make -C /lib/modules/4.9.201-g180da76c98e2/build M=/var/lib/dkms/bme280/1.0/build modules
make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.9.201-g180da76c98e2/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
Makefile:13: recipe for target 'default' failed

/lib/modules/4.9.201-g180da76c98e2/build - is a symlink to /home/flo/linux_nvidia_jetson/kernel/kernel-4.9 and this resource is available on the one PC in the world :)

Is there a way to build modules for your kernel with DKMS? Thanks.

Does this kernel see the qspi_mtd /dev/mtdblockX ?

Hello,

I have a fork of this kernel which I am using on the AntMicro Nano baseboard. I have a particular hardware issue and I am hoping others working with this kernel (with the base Nano dev board?) might be able to confirm a particular functionality..

With the "default" 32.5.1 kernel installed by the SDK manager, Linux is able to initialize the qspi NOR flash, and it appears as /dev/mtdblock0

[ 1.627226] qspi_mtd spi6.0: s25fs256s SSG 8 0 1000 2000000
[ 1.627235] qspi_mtd spi6.0: s25fs256s (32768 Kbytes)
[ 1.627245] qspi_mtd spi6.0: mtd .name = spi6.0, .size = 0x2000000 (32MiB) .erasesize = 0x00010000 (64KiB) .numeraseregions = 0
[ 1.627462] 1 ofpart partitions found on MTD device spi6.0
[ 1.627467] Creating 1 MTD partitions on "spi6.0":
[ 1.627491] 0x000000000000-0x000002000000 : "Whole_flash0"

In my fork, as well as kernels built with the l4t-32.5.1 branch of this repo, the QSPI isn't initialized when running on my board:

[ 2.751404] qspi_mtd spi6.0: unrecognized JEDEC id 000000

So the different could be in my hardware, although it works with the stock 32.5.1 kernel; or in my DTB?

I'm hoping someone can confirm that this kernel does see the qspi flash on their board (e.g. the Nano dev board)

Build on Jetson Nano failed.

We bought the Jetson Nano recently, installed the recent Nvidia Image on a fresh SD-card and try to install the allied-vision suite on the device. After executing the following line an error is produced as follows

Is there any way to debug this? We used the explanation given in this repository.

avt_camera not detect + other issues on Ant Micro carrier

Hi Allied Vision

I have two 1800 158C MIPI-CSI_2 cameras for a stereo-camera application.
I'm using a Jetson Nano and an Ant Micro open source Jetson baseboard derivative with the adapter flex cable integrated into the board. There are two 22 pin MIPI-CSI connectors to fit the cameras straight onto the board. I have followed the instructions outlined by Ant Micro and Allied Vision Github to install the drivers on Jetpack 4.4.1 however I have a few issues I can't resolve.

From the kernel logs I have this output:
Starting kernel ...

Is it possible to compile the drivers on the target machine?

I'm kind of disappointed seeing as I spent (for me at least) a decent amount of money on an AGX Xavier camera adapter, only to find out it doesn't work on the 4.6 update. And the 5.0 update isn't far off. Also my peculiar setup means I can't easily use the listed methods. My partition and file structure will not work with any automated scripts. Is there work being done to prepare for the 5.0 release? I don't mean to sound unkind (I know programming is complex) but if there won't be support for a good while I will need to get a crash course on kernel hacking and make my own. Thank you for the work being done on this repo

Deploy kernel image twice for xavier?

Hello,

In readme it seems that both step 5 and step 9 deploy kernel image into board.
Why does it done twice for xavier ? Isn't one time flashing for image good enough ?

Create a tarball with the kernel image and modules.,
5. Copy the tarball to the target board. On the target board, extract the tarball and run the included install script.
9 .Xavier users: Set Xavier to Force USB Recovery Mode and run deploy.sh again with parameter flash-kernel to flash the kernel image to the board.

Thanks

dark Images with Jetson Nano and Jetpack 4.3

Hi,

I've just installed the drivers and tested the example codes (e.g. gstreamer_live.sh) and I get an image, but the exposure is very low. I can only see the lights in the room, everything else is dark.

For reference I have am using the 1800-158c and 1800-C-319c. Both via CSI interface. I don't get any error message either. I'm running on the Jetson Nano B01 revision and jetpack 4.3. I tried the Gstreamer and V4L scripts given by allied vision in their git repository and I keep getting the same issue

Any suggestions on how to solve this? I'm a little stuck

Attached is a picture of lights taken by the allied vision camera (319c), as you can see the exposure is too low.

TX2 NX support

Hi,

Do you have any plan of when the TX2 NX would be supported, please?

Best regards,
Pascal.

Device no longer recognized after reboot (on Jetson Nano)

I installed the Alvium CSI-2 driver for my ALVIUM 1500 C-050 on a Jetson Nano.
Everything works perfectly fine but if I reboot the camera is no longer recognized until I run the install script again.
I tried Method A (precompiled binaries) as well as Method B (cross-compiling binaries from source) both work until I restart.
