arch-pkgbuilds's Issues

Metasploit in opt directory

Anthraxx,

I know this is advised by metasploit to place the files into /opt, but this is not FHS compliant would it be possible to update it to /usr/share/$pkgname if possible?

Issue with python-yara and python2-yara

It seems there is an issue with linking of symbols when building python-yara and python2-yara. If you import the latest python-yara and python2-yara, you will receive errors as such:

Python 2.7.12 (default, Jun 28 2016, 08:31:05)
[GCC 6.1.1 20160602] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

import yara
Traceback (most recent call last):

ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/yara.so: undefined symbol: yr_finalize

Python 3.5.2 (default, Jun 28 2016, 08:46:01)
[GCC 6.1.1 20160602] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

import yara
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 1, in
ImportError: /usr/lib/python3.5/site-packages/yara.cpython-35m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so: undefined symbol: yr_finalize
quit()

There have been a few issues about it on the yara-python github:
VirusTotal/yara-python#7

kismet outdated / added dep

kismet 2022-01-R3 is out, and requires python-websockets for some of it's data sources.

Additionally, an "unsupported" datasource requires python-bluepy or it shows an ugly error. It's not required, and it hurts nothing, but it looks bad in the logs.

SSLScan new repo version

It seems there is a newly maintained version of sslscan at https://github.com/rbsec/sslscan. This is now in mainline Kali repos and I believe they are using a static version of openssl 1.0.2 to build the tool so it can include support for older ciphers and ssl protocols. It may be a good idea to take a look at this repo and see about a possible update to the tool in community.

update vim and gvim packages

I see that vim package is quite old given that it gets updated quite frequently these days. Would it be possible to update the package to latest. I'm primarily interested in this patch which would drive adoption of lua in vim. vim/vim#6063.

Out of curiosity how often to vim packages get updated?

pgadmin4 needs a bump

pgdamin4 doesn't work anymore.
The package also has been flagged out of date in February this year.

pgadmin4 v6 released on the 7th this month.
release notes

Apparently the package expects python3.7 but python3.9 is the current standard, that's why the server fails to start.

On the side,
I've noticed many packages being flagged out of date, not just by you being the maintainer, but others as well.
Which leads me thinking about maintainability in the long run. What if something happened to you or some other big fish?

Archlinux could make use of a donation system where maintainers get paid to do their job, keeping packages up to date.
Getting paid is of course not always a sufficient motivator so some performance checks should be in place. Like if a package wasn't updated in x days after being flagged out of date the maintainer doesn't get paid for the job and has a chance to deliver the update in 7 more days. If that's not being done they lose the position. If they deliver they still don't get paid but keep the position.
Where there's money involved people will be interested in becoming a maintainer so orphaned packages should not exist.

Of course the amount being paid depends on how many donations are in the pot. This will probably lead to other problems. But package upgrades would be taken care of.

Nikto might need a rebuild with the new perl

Testing Nikto version: 2.1.6-1 on arch with perl version: 5.26.0-1.

It errors out when executing the help function:

It seems like the version patch we have is not doing it's job properly?
I'll prob look into this at some point, but wanted to jot it down so if anyone else inclined can resolve the issue.

update vim to minimum v8.2.1054

I had send a patch to vim to make it easy to use lua functions and vimscript together. vim/vim#6246 which is now merged vim/vim@801ab06 and is part of v8.2.1054.

Would it be possible to update the vim and gvim packages to the latest? This would help drive vim users to create plugins in lua.
