Hello,
I just installed a new NAS (OpenMadiaVault) and can't wake it up with Wake on LAN tool running on a Win 8.1 PC. With Win 10 on antoher PC, same tool, no problem.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
Kindest regards

Hi again,
I am having some kind of problem. While I search for machines I am not getting all machines´information (SO and WOL) I am running the program with domain administrator´s acc. SO I think that is not anything about permission.
What can it be? Maybe Windows Firewall?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
For some reason, I have computers on a network showing as offline when they are online. I have run the "search for machines" function and selected the computers I need, so the IPs and MACs in my list are correct.
Another puzzle is that some computers show another computer correctly as online, yet the other computer shows the one that can see it, as offline.
Hi All,
I have a problem to schedule WOL using WakeOnLAN tool. When I try to configure it, I Always receive this message 'Register Task Definition - UserID'. Maybe it's related to the domain\userid and password. But I don't know what to enter here.
I'm trying to start a laptop automatically that will show a presentation using WOL. When I wake up the laptop manually using WakeOnLAN tool, it's working fine.
Both laptops are connected wired and in the same network. But no domain configured, just a workgroup called WORKGROUP.
Please advise,
BR,
Ruud
I'm trying to get the option of shutdown, then sleep (radio button on the right) to work..
I'm using legacy for the option and nothing in the command line, though i thought maybe i could put rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0 in the command line to help but it doesnt work.
When i do the sleep all that seems to happen is it logs the current user out, rather than sleep.
I added the registry value and have rebooted too.. waking up from sleep works fine..
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Hi
I am trying to follow these examples to set up shutdown for a linux server:
http://wol.aquilatech.com/help/shutdown/default.html
http://wol.aquilatech.com/help/command_line/default.html
I am using plink.exe to send a shutdown command, just as in the example
I have two issues.
First, it does not seem to like $HOST in:
plink.exe -ssh -pw $PASS $USER@$HOST "shutdown command"
With the command like this, nothing happens. I have to replace $HOST with the actual server name for the command to work. Where exactly does it take $HOST from? The Name field on the Display Properties tab is exactly the same as the server name.
Second, I cannot get the command line shutdown via WakeOnLanC to work. With the command configured as:
plink.exe -ssh -pw $PASS $USER@servername "shutdown command"
It will work when I select shutdown from within the WakeOnLan program. But when I try and do a shutdown from the command line using WakeOnLanC I get an access denied error and a password prompt:
C:\>WakeOnLanC -s -m servername
WakeOnLan Command Line 2.11.10.0
Shutdown sent to servername...Successful
C:>Access denied
$USER@servername's password:
I think that $USER substitution does not work from the command line so it is telling plink to use user name $USER instead of substituting the actual user from the credentials, so plink is displaying the access denied message and password prompt?
Any advice is appreciated.
Hi, on a Windows 2003 server, just installed your WOL software but the schedule button (and menu option) are greyed out. Is this a known issue? Services like Scheduler are running fine.
Also, small issue (hardly worth mentioning!!!) but it can't wake up any Window 10 PCs which is a pity since I've just upgraded all the network PC's to W10.
I found your software because I wanted to start the PC's before people come in so it can run it's software updates/virus scans at a quiet time.
Many thanks
Adrian
Hello,
thank you for the new version 2.11.5.
Unfortunately, there are some bugs in this version. I had version 2.11.4 installed and made the upgrade to 2.11.5. The previous version was set to German language in the settings menu. The XML file is on a network share.
If I start the 2.11.5 the first time, everything is good. The language is still in German and I can see my computers, which are in the xml file.
When I start the 2.11.5 a second time, the application is in English and the computer window is empty. I change the language to German and re-import the xml-file, but after restarting the application, the problems come again.
Even unistalling the 2.11.4 and doing a clean install of the 2.11.5 could not solve the problem.
The problem exists on diffirent computers with Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
I hope that you can fix this problems with a new build.
Thanks and kind regards

Hi Guys,
I am very new to WOL as I have actually never done this before.
I am setting up a local WOL system.
Everything is setup and when I actually want to "Shutdown" it gives me an error code saying access is denied (5). Any solutions???
When I want to "Wake up" the same machine it doesn't do anything.
Any basic steps to take or a User guide that I could follow in order to compare my setup steps?
Regards
Charles
Why can't Aquila WakeOnLAN work wake up/shutdown the computers in my LAN (about 7-8)?
The "Search for machines" gives UNKNOWN for most of them..
How can I investigate/set my computer to let the program works?
Hey guys,
I have 12 computers I used to use WOL to manage (shutdown / startup). However since ugprading to windows 10 on these I receive Access denied errors. I have allowed power management on the network cards and have turned off fast boot. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Hi,
thank you for your soft, it is exactly what I need but...it's not worked for me ! In my case I use WLAN WoL and it need more than one WoL packet to wake up my computer.
I used the android application "WoL Wake on Lan Wan". It is possible to put a number of WoL packet and an interval in second between them. I use 5 packets with 1s interval and it definitely works.
Could you please add this kind of feature in your next release?
Thank you
Cheers
Rahaman
I try to shut down a Win7 PC 32bit in a Domain Environment with Method WMI and get this Error:
Fehler Klasse nicht registriert (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))
I´m shure the the fault lies on the pc but I don´t have a clue how to fix it?
On the other PC remote shutdown work, settings are the same.
I attached the above screen shot to show the issue I am having. I am trying to wake up remote computer in my office from home but the agent machine is not working properly. I set up the wol agent 5 month ago and it worked perfectly. We updated the machine in the office with the wol agent (its a whole new machine)and when I reinstalled the agent now it will no longer work. I am forwarding UDP port 9 and yes it pointing to the right location. The version I installed months ago I think was different and the machine its installed on is running windows 7 pro x64. The only difference between the new and the old machine is the old machine was running windows 7 pro x86 but I cant believe that's the problem. Any help would be welcomed and if I can provide you with any more information to try to solve this feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance,
Most user View preferences (i.e. Show Groups, Show Hot Buttons, etc) are restored on app start. The user's View preference for Toolbar and Status Bar are not restored, these UI elements are always displayed on app start.
If this is considered to be desirable behaviour it would nice to be able to override it in Tools > Options.
Cheers,
Steve
(WOL v2.11.4, Win7 SP1 x64)
P.S. Very usable app and great docs ... nicely done!
Under Windows 7 32-bit, Wake On LAN 2.11.11 displays the following message in the Help / About / Online Updates box: "You have the latest version." This is the expected message.
However under Windows 10 Pro 32-bit (version 1607), Wake On LAN 2.11.11 displays the following message in the Help / About / Online Updates box: "Checking for updates..." This is displayed continuously and is not the expected behavior. I have reproduced this on a few different computers running Windows 10; none of our Windows 10 computers running Wake On LAN 2.11.11 report having the latest version, even though they do.
All computers are on the same subnet and domain and access the Internet via the same router.
When installing to a different directory than the default, the command line interface fails with a file not found exception looking for the machine.xml file in the default directory. This only happens when the machine name provided via the -m option is not found.
I tried to shutdown my Linux Computer in the Local Network with the given example and replaced it with my own.
In German the Error Code says: Datei nicht gefunden
what means something like: file not found
Do i have to install Putty separately?
Hi,
We support around 68 primary schools for their IT and have just piloted WOL for a school that it trying to reduce costs with electricity due to tight school budgets! WOL also makes it more practical to turn on and off x30 PC's in a suite, especially as they're in cages under a desk!
The program has been working perfectly, but it's just dawned on me that schools are only open during term time, so I don't want to wake up the PC's in school holidays!
Can a 'from' and 'to' date be added to the schedule section to make it easier to setup for all 3 terms throughout the year?
Also, any reason the 'Month' schedule option is greyed out?
Many thanks,
Trevor Hatley
Hello great helpful supercool people,
Despite the great documentation of the software I, as a layman, have some issues.
When I try to wake the PC up from power off, I get the following error:
Translation from my native language: "The requested adress isn't valid/legal in this context"
When I try to shutdown the Host, I get this error:
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
The problem is that I am clueless about how to allow access to the host. I tried turning fast-booting off, checked bios if WOL is available, updated the network drivers, made a home network with all access and so on.
I use Windows 10 and it's a private network, so I don't try to use it over the internet. My biggest success recently has been that the software started to recognize the host and it's power status.
I would really appreciate advice,
Have a good day,
Marcel
Two computer on LAN, both running Windows 10 AU, 64-bit.
I am using Wake On Lan V 2.11.12. I have been able to wake another computer on my LAN, but when I try to shut it down (Sleep or Shutdown) I get this error:
Error: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I temporarily disabled the firewalls on each computer...same error.
What am I doing wrong?
When attempting to start the Listener, I receive the following error. Following your suggestions for resolution, I have disabled "Simple TCP/IP Services" and using "Netstat -ab", I found no app is using this port. Have the same issue with Port 7. I've confirmed with my ISP, Cox Communications, they are not blocking these ports.
Any other suggestions? Thanks
I have you WOL software on a workstation on your network. Where running peer to peer. Is it possible to schedule tasks like shutdown a group of pcs and have it run from a locked pc. The lock pc isn't the pcs that I want to remotely shutdown it is the workstation that has to software installed.
First of all thank for this amazing tool. Nice development!!
I have a speciffic question, I is possible to associate 1 HOST to more than 1 group?
If it is possible how can i do this?
Thanks in advance!
It would be very nice if the splash screen (which shows at startup) could be disabled in the settings.
Get the error message: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions when trying to connect to a host.
I tried disabling simple TCP IP services that was suggested in another post and it didn't help.
I followed the getting started page.

Hello,
Perhaps it would be useful, create an option in the general settings for select the default network device.
Thanks
In the Properties for the Host I'd like to be able to save the RDP password so i don't have to enter it every time I connect to the Host.
Automatic resize of search window.
Allow manual resizing of search window.
I'm trying to get a WOL system running on 8 PC's, All are Windows 10. I've gone through the configuration steps of enabling the magic packet on the network adapters, but every time I try to shut down a PC, I always get the same error.
"Error: Access is denied. (Exception from result HRESULT: 0x80070005(E_ACCESSDENIED))"
Could anyone point me in the right direction? Does the software need to be installed on each client?
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Fully Patched
vHardware: VMWare ESXi 5.1 (fully patched)
VMWare Tools: Up-to-date
Errors: None on screen. None in Event Viewer.
Troubleshooting: All non-MS services are stopped. Network throughput is very low. CPU load is very low. HDD load is very low. The server is idle apart from this application. We noted a RAM build up after the application runs for a moment, but then no longer transfers data. The device list is ~130 machines.
First of all, thx for a great piece of SW!
My primary function with WOL is to wake-up my LinkStation Mini 1T NAS. Ny setup is as follows:
My problem is as follows:
This does not happen when a similar task (WakeOnLan) is performed by my OpenELEC / KODI htpc for the NAS as it has "keep alive" functionality.
Could similar-kind functionality be implemented also for Your WOL software that it sends (by configurable interval perhaps...?) a "keep alive" signal from WOL?
Keep up the great work!

Hello,
I can't seem to figure out what I am possibly doing wrong here.. I am trying to add timed tasks but it keeps giving me the following error: 0x08007052E . I am sure the username and password are correct.
The computer I am trying to add in the scheduler for sleep is a Windows 7 Enterprise machine.
It is set up to automaticly login on startup @ netplwiz
When I manually execute the tasks they work.
I will add a screenshot here [It is Dutch, saying the user credentials are wrong]:
Some help would be very appreciated.
I use Wake on Lan very gratefully in my school domain, and I am successful with almost all of our computers (about 100, mostly Dell or Lenovo). I had to set the BIOS to allow waking, but once I learned the proper settings, it works perfectly. I have a few HP computers of various models, and I have been unable to make them wake, even though the ability to be awakened over the network seems to be set in the BIOS. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi, I'm a pc engineers in Korea, let me use the Google translator to understand even more than in the English.
Program're really well use
But there comes a PING TTL know whether to boot from any operating system, I think would help.
On a winXP 32bit machine I just upgraded to the latest version 2.11.9 and I get an error "wakeonlan.exe is not a valid win32 applictation". Downgraded back to 2.11.4 and it works fine.
Hi
I install WakeOnLan.exe in my personal computer, but I just want to use WakeOnLanC.exe in my mobile computer. So, I copy "Machines.dll", "WakeOnLanC.exe" and "WOL.dll" to my mobile computer.
When I use WakeOnLanC.exe wake my system, I will see the fail issue as like below:
Could I ask how can i do if I want to use WakeOnLanC.exe wake system?
Thank you so much.
I am migrating from one machine to another. I can export settings of WakeOnLAN, but those schedule job were not export as well. Is that a way to export and import the scheduled tasks?
There is a tick - "Auto start when system start" but the program is not loaded when the computer boots.

Hi all, i've got a great problem.
i try to use wol on my lan, but it works only if i login as "admin pc user".
Is there a way to use wol as "normal pc user"?
thank you!
Currently, the only ways to add computers is to either know all of their information, or to search for them using a range of ip addresses. I have seen a few other WoL utilities with a few handy ways to add computers, two of which I would love to see in this utility: add from a list (so a large plain text list of hostnames), and add many with a naming pattern (LabA-01 to LabA-38 for example). Would this be possible to add?
After I updated WOL to 2.11.9, I am suddenly getting this error message. Nothing about my long-working configuration has changed. My system is Win7-32. FWIW, this is the error placed in the Event Viewer:

For easy visual detection off hosts, it would be great to be able to add (import) user selectable images (as icons) e.g. in .PNG-format when defining New hosts (optionally, of course).
Is it possible to have a custom sound for host when they come online or go offline? Right now it looks like a USB is plugged in and out :)
Hi, I wish to use Wake On Lan version 2.11.10 to manage a domain containing Windows 7, 10 and even Server 2003 R2 computers. I currently just installed Wake On Lan version 2.11.10 on a Windows 10 32-bit client and, as expected, it detected some computers. However, when I press the "Hot Buttons" in the main window menu, the new pane appears at the right, however it contains no buttons at all: "Start All" and "Emergency Shutdown" are missing. No matter how I resize or play with the window or pane, they never appear. The right pane is completely greyed out. Is this an issue with 2.11.10 or am I doing something wrong? Best regards,
