BlockSniper

An innovative brush world editing tool for PocketMine-MP: A Minecraft server software written in PHP.

Overview

BlockSniper is an advanced world editing tool, based on the idea of VoxelSniper from Minecraft PC software. BlockSniper allows you to edit your world from a long distance, with several different types and shapes. Shapes are the shapes types are being executed in. This means that every type can be executed in any shape. A shape would, for example, be a sphere, a type replace. Every block in that shape will then get modified using the selected type; Replaced.

Almost all features can be managed using an in-game user interface. The brush menu can be opened using the /brush command.

Apart from just brushing, BlockSniper also features things such as copying and pasting (including schematics), undo and redo, bound brushes and an extensive API for other plugins to build on.

Installation and Development Builds

Stable releases will be drafted at Releases or at the release page at Poggit. To install a version:

  • Go to releases from Poggit.
  • Download the attached phar file.
  • Drop the plugin in the plugin folder.
  • Restart the server.

If you do decide to use a development version to benefit from the latest features, the development build list can be found when clicking the button below. (Warning! Only do this if you understand the development versions could contain bugs and be unstable)

Poggit-CI

Alternatively, BlockSniper may be downloaded by using: git clone --recursive https://github.com/BlockHorizons/BlockSniper in the plugin folder if DevTools is installed. Git must be installed.

BlockSniper can not be downloaded by downloading the ZIP file GitHub provides. The required dependencies will not be installed if this is done.

Translation

BlockSniper has a multi-language system, so everybody can have a good time using the plugin. We currently have nowhere near enough translated languages though, and we need your help! It is very appreciated if you help translate, so please do so whenever you have time. The available languages can be found under resources/languages.

Permissions

A full list of permissions can be found in the plugin.yml file. It contains the most up to date permissions, so every permission available can be found there. Some permissions are also registered dynamically. The permissions of shapes consist out of: blocksniper.shape.<lowercase shapename>, whereas the permissions of types consist out of blocksniper.type.<lowercase typename>.

BlockSniper can be reviewed at the Poggit release page here. Any feedback given is very welcome and appreciated. Don't hesitate to share what you think about this plugin.

Please note that third party modified versions of PocketMine-MP are not supported. Issues caused by them are closed immediately.

brush command doesn't work since 1.1.0

This update will overwrite the 1.4.0 update of BlockSniper, as not enough use could be found in that version, and new features in 1.5.0/2.0.0 obsolete the features in 1.4.0.

  • Implement a (not so) basic asynchronous system with the types and shapes
  • Implement asynchronous brushing.
  • Implement asynchronous undo/redo.
  • Implement asynchronous pasting. (Especially schematics)

API

  • Properly move every function to the classes that should have them, not could have them.
  • Implement an easy to use API function for asynchronous modifications.

  • Add a completely new translation system that auto completes.

Share your templates!

As of pull request #11, BlockSniper has the so called 'templates' implemented. Templates can be made using the /clone template <radiusXheight> <name> command. Using this command, BlockSniper will save the selection to a file in the directory /plugins/BlockSniper/templates/. Here comes the best thing. Templates can be shared by downloading it and uploading it for your friends.

This is the place you can upload templates for others to download on their servers. They can then use the /paste template <name> to paste that building in the world. To install a template, simply download one here and put it in the /plugins/BlockSniper/templates/ folder. As long as the template is appropriate, feel free to upload it here if you want.

It would be best if you could provide a picture of the template here as well. Have fun using the templates feature!

Nothing works on it.

When bringing up the brush menu we try and click on a button nothing happens. There is no errors or anything.

[Feature Request] Rotate Pasted Objects

Description

It would be useful if pasted objects could be rotated either during the pasting process or after. Currently, if an object is copied as a template, it must be built a maximum of 4 times or modified in an external program so a template can be created for each possible direction.

[Feature Request] Option for 2 Position Selections

Description

The clone command (and several brush options) would greatly benifit if the user could select 2 positions (Lower Corner and opposing Upper Corner blocks) instead of radius.

For the clone command, this would reduce iteration through unneccessary spaces and make for more accurate duplications when cloning items that were built in normal terrain instead of a flat world.

For brushes (eg drain, fill, tree), a 2 position selection would make it possible to create vertical structures such as walls or select areas where a rectangular shape would be more useful.

Custom User Interface Proposal

Custom UI Proposal for update 1.5.0.

Introduction
As of Minecraft PE update 1.2, custom User Interfaces were added in the form of packets to send and receive. These User Interfaces are great for plugins such as BlockSniper, and will greatly simplify the process of configuring and modifying things such as brush properties in BlockSniper.

The Proposal
For BlockSniper, we can use the custom UI useful for many features. The best idea I have came up with works as the following, supposing custom UI windows can be stacked onto eachother, without deleting the window behind the currently visible window.

The User Interface structure might look quite complicated, but should be very convenient for usage. That's what it's after, after all. The User Interface 'tree', as called from now on, should look like the following.

UI Compatibility Issue with KitUI

Description

When exiting a cooldown error from KitUI, BlockSniper 'Preset Creation' menu is displayed and an error is displayed on the console. This happens even with players that do not have permissions to use BlockSniper.

To recreate this issue:

  1. Create a base PocketMine-MP server with BlockSniper v.2.3.0 (dev-299) and KitUI v1.1.8 installed.
  2. In the game, open the KitUI interface /kit
  3. Choose any kit from the list.
  4. Choose Yes to select the kit.

Suggested New Features

  • Gravity Shapes: Shapes that are made out of the selected block(s) that are affected by gravity like sand but aren't sand and after the initial summoning retain the specified blocks properties.
  • Example: All shapes can be affected by gravity by adding a g to the front of the name. (gsphere, gcylinder, etc.)
  • Decreasing Brush Mode: A brush mode that decreases the shape size by the selected interval after each use.
  • Example: The original brush size is set to a 7 after each use it decreases by 1 size and at 0 resets to 7. You probably would want to send a chat message saying that it reset to avoid accidentally using the brush one too many times.

Obsolete Blocks Do Not Compare Meta

Description

When using the Replace brush, block meta isn't verified. Example. Trying to replace yellow concrete that's mixed with green concrete will result in all concrete being replaced with whatever the brush block is.

Bind commands like undo to hotbar item

Description

It’s more convenient undo it with hotbar item rather than command. It can also be used for copying and other things. It makes sense to call it "actions" and allow to bind with item.

Golden Carrot error.

Description

I can open the menu, but another player can't. He's OP and he also using the gold carrot.

BlockSniper does not work on PocketMine-MP build #1537 on poggit. Throws error when tap/hold with golden carrot.

Incorrect behaviour from /clone and /paste commands

Description

Error Condition
When using /clone or /paste without arguments, the client receives an error message An unknown error occured while attempting to perform this command and the console / server log produces errors (listed below).

Expected Behavior
At minimum, a usage message is expected. Preferable response would be to present options for the user to modify the behaviors of clone and paste (eg, Save Air Blocks, Radius etc).
