About

Modular Force Field System (or MFFS) is a mod that adds force fields, high tech machinery and defensive measures to Minecraft. Ever tired of nuclear explosions blowing up your house or want to keep people out of your secret bases? May the force (fields) be with you!

MFFS v3.0+ is a complete ground-up rewrite inspired by ThunderDark's MFFS mod.

Downloads can be found on CurseForge.

Usage

MFFS uses Fortron as its main power source for force fields. It contains a series of machines focused on converting energy to Forton for the use in generating force fields. The primary machine is the Force Field Projector which is powered by Fortron Capacitors (storage) and Coercion Derivers (generators).

The projector can be modified with various cards and upgrades that improve its stats. These upgrades include several field shapes, size scaling, position offset, and utility modules. For example, the upgrade to shock attacks, kill monsters, remove blocks, and protect tiles.

Please report any bugs you find on our Issue Tracker found in this repository, or ask us in the discord if you're unsure.

Forton Capacitor Not Storing Energy

Running through the mods in my modpack to ensure they work and have been having issues with the Forton Capacitor not storing any energy. We are running the latest version.

Here is a GIF of what is occuring: https://gyazo.com/984b56cd6da80aed53d078c41f3ec3e4

With Capacity & Speed Upgrades: https://gyazo.com/070edda75083c96563434c90bfc7ca31

Capacitor set to fill mode: https://gyazo.com/96696703d5252c578cae09f45ad1408e

Capacitor set to fill mode with infinite power card (connected to nothing): https://gyazo.com/7c30316c1951e4a5f6371d8738492573

I even attempted to alter the config and turned the base consumption down to '0' and the power drain continues.

Loading issue relating to recipes.

As shown in the crash report and log attached, the game fails to load at the very end of the init phase due to issues with the shaped ore recipe. I have taken a look at the code and believe the item loader is not adding the items to the game registry so when the shapedOreRecipe handler looks for it, it isnt there.

Im trying to make a fix, but without understanding the forge API in intimate detail i have no idea where to begin XD.

Interdiction matrix doesn't do what it's told

The interdiction matrix's banned and allowed functions dont work, nor does the button label change. The slots arent filter style slots either, they actually hold items. They don't accept the item attempted to input as a "mold" if you will. No matter what i do, it still confiscates everything in my possession. Also, whats with the dimensions of the area effected not displaying correctly? I have tried all the versions of MFFS for 1.7.10, and am running Voltz Engine 1.9.14b.302 Any help would be appreciated.

Identity Card Crash

Hey

I hope u guys can help me i try to search online but didn't find the same problem.

I can make a Force field but i can't go trough the Force field and if i try to register myself in the "Biometric Identifier" i must create a "Identification Card" and if i open the GUI (shift + right click) it shows up but if i try to activate sommething or close the GUI my minecraft crashes

Crash Message:
https://pastebin.com/gFmrMi2f

Add: UI element to note scroll wheel option

Not every permissions to be used with Interdiction Matrix is available to configure.

The Identification Card only has 4 permissions, and there are few modules that are not covered with Identification Card. For example, Warn module and Confiscate module does not have any way to configure permissions and will act on every characters.

We need more permissions or 'Any' permission that would set any other permissions that are not covered by other permissions.

MFFS Interface Problem

Well I wanted to try out the MFFS mod on our server, running "The 1.7.10 Modpack" but apparently I can't because of some wierd interface problems...

I would be thankfull if anyone could tell me how to fix this

Fortron texture problems in pipes and tanks

Hello,

I've installed MFFS (v0.0.47b2) and Voltz Engine (v0.25.6b322) in a private modpack (MC 1.7.10, MCF v10.13.4.1566) and I've discovered that while Fortron is inside a tank and/or pipes, the textures on them seems broken (screenshot ahead...). This also happens in Open Blocks tanks. BuildCraft version is 7.1.19 and Open Blocks version is 1.5.1 (Open Mods Lib v0.9.1). Also, the Universal Fluid Cells from IC appears to be empty (IC Experimental v2.2.827).

Lonely capacitor has a ghost device (linked devices 1) at every freq, that eats energy. It even eat energy if mod set to fill. Also, capacity upgrade not working...

Crashing

Heya,

Was asked to post an issue up in here by DarkCow in the BBM IRC channel. Seems to be crashing me as soon as I try to join the server. This is happening to others too.

I've reinstalled the pack and removed optifine.

Thank you in advance.

[Bug] Interdiction Matrix Capped at <= 54 Scale Modules

Mod Version
MFFS 1.7.10-0.0.51b143 (144 breaks @launch)
VoltzEngine 1.7.10-1.7.2b167

Right so When I try to insert >54 scale modules into the interdiction matrix it stops working..
I recorded it (added as attachment for archive purposes)

The config file should be innocent

interdiction_matrix {
    # Should the interdiction matrix interact with creative players?.
    B:"Effect Creative Players"=true

    # The maximum range for the interdiction matrix.
    I:"Field Calculation Per Tick"=2147483647

    # Set to true for interdiction matrix to collect items from killed players without collection module.
    B:"Require Collection module"=false
}

The GUI of the interdiction matrix is also showing text overlaying other text..

Thanks :)

Work fine on client, crashes on server (1.19.2)

When running the mod on the client / local multiplayer everything works fine.
When putting it on the server I get the following error:

Fortron Capacitor constantly sucking energy.

Running 1.7.10

I've tried a bunch of different versions of MFFS, and all of them have them same problem.

Once the Fortron Capacitor is turned on, the energy is drained from Coercion Deriver to the point where nothing happens. The FC seems to be devouring energy at an alarming rate, even when hooked up to a Creative Energy Cell, so I know the amount of energy isn't the issue.

The FC just builds to like...160L, then vanishes. =( I seen on a previous post back in JAN that this will be fixed, but haven't seen any change logs or anything? Are they any updates?

[Request|Enhancement] Add config to limit upgrade modules

What It Does
Limits the amount of upgrades that can be put inside of the force field and interdiction matrix.

Why
There is already an implementable scale limit for the custom projection module so I was thinking that it would make more sense to implement that for any block that can use the scale modules.

This would also greatly help server owners that wish to use the mod 😁

How Does It Work
In the configuration it will let you you be able to specify the max amount of scale modules that can be put inside of the machine. Another way this can be implemented is to have a map in the config similarly to how item whitelist/blacklists work except with amounts attached to them.

force_field_projector:
    all:
        speed_module: 128
    dome:
        scale_module: 64
interdiction matrix:
    scale_module: 64

Sponge module

Severe FPS lag

Seems to try and replace all blocks within interrior forcefield in 1 cycle

Won't launch in modpack

Hello! I can get MFFS and Voltz Engine to run in "normal" Minecraft, using 1.7.10 Forge. However, whenever I put it in a modpack, and upload it to technic, it doesn't work. I first thought that it was conflicting with other mods, so I put MFFS and Voltz (along with the CodingLib download) in there own modpack. The modpack downloads fine, however whenever I launch it, it will get to 19-25%, speed up to 100%, go to the black "transition" screen then "crash." However, there aren't any crash files. Any idea as to why this is happening?

Love the mod btw, works extremely well with forge.

Invert module

Invert module seems to be broken, not sure if its projector code or mode module code.

Interdiction Matrix crash and more...

Interdiction Matrix crashes server when a Force Field Projector is placed directly adjacent to it. Interdiction Matrix should have a module in it, preferably an "anti"-something. Frequency is ignored(intended behaviour?).

java.lang.NullPointerException: Ticking block entity
	at com.mffs.common.tile.TileFieldMatrix.getInteriorPoints(TileFieldMatrix.java:290)

Also, there are a few other, less severe things:

  • Disintegration field attempts to remove air blocks - and never succeeds;
  • Force Field blocks generated after being broken in creative mode can not be sneaked through;
  • Some modules have unexpected effects when placed in directional slots of the projector:
    -- speed modules have no effect
    -- repulsion mode causes field blocks to appear rapidly
    -- disintegration module causes field blocks to appear and completely replace replaceable(not bedrock, projector, etc) blocks without dropping them;
  • Bottom right slot of the 5x5 projector configuration grid behaves as if it is a directional slot(the issue above), however translation and scale modules placed in it have no effect;
  • Field fusion module may cause some field blocks on the intersections to despawn on contact/bumping, some may stay in the world after both fields are disabled;
  • Repulsion field doesn't seem to render(not optifine-friendly?) and causes npc entites to teleport through it;
  • Interdiction Matrix doesn't collect drop from monsters even with collection module(intended?);
  • "Use Forcefield Renderer" config option doesn't seem to have any noticeable effects(optifine, with and without shaders).

Issues seen on version 0.0.51b139, some of them have been also tested on build 143.

remote controller broken 1.7.10

the remote controller in mffs 1.7.10 doesn't work, when i shift+right click on the projector it links but the remote goes from saying remote controller then in red "linked" to just "unnamed" and when i try to right click to open the gui it says "unable to harness XX.X joules from fortron field"

1.7.10 Coercion Derivers

On the latest version it appears that coercion derivers aren't keeping track of the energy stored correctly.
I'm using them to charge a fortron capacitor, and they do that until the charge within them runs out, despite having a power source. Right-clicking the derivers work, and in the energy stored UI you can see it jumping from 0 up to full, but then it stops working once the energy's drained.
https://gyazo.com/b5100294bdcd53ff15b9e3a5cfbc89b3

It's a shame the modes on the fortron capacitors were removed too, because it then empties out the capacitor trying to re-fill the derivers.

MFFS doesnt take IC2 energy

Hi ! I have my own modpack and wanted to power MFFS with EU (version 1.7.10) . Ic2 want connect and i dont know why, can you help me ?

Full Server Crash when player enters force field with anti-personnel modules

When another player enters the range of the anti-personnel module (Configured as you would expect) they die and the server crashes.

When logging back in, the user has died & the server resumes as normal. If they return, once again, it crashes.

Internal Server Hang on Startup (1.19.2, MFFS-5.0-alpha2.7)

No crash log to include because of the nature of the issue, but I spent the morning tracking down an issue I've never experienced before in a modpack, which vanished once I removed MFFS-5.0-alpha-2.7 from the pack.

Upon opening an existing minecraft world, there was massive internal server lag. I could move around, had no issues with framerate lag or microstutter, but it was as if the singeplayer game's internal server couldn't keep up. Chat messages and commands sent in the chat window would never appear (and, checking the log, were never received by the internal server), and other aspects of the world loaded incorrectly. The first time I'd opened the world with MFFS installed, yesterday, there had been no issues at all.

If it's relevant, there was an MFFS setup within render distance.
