Some .sit are empty

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download
http://downloads.interfacelift.com/icons-mac/downloads/0930_halloweensmilies.sit

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I got an empty folder, instead of icons one. Same problem with other
archives on the site.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version online tonight; 10.4.8

I join the "corrupt" (??) archive

non-ASCII chars in Type/Creator codes

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Find or create a file with codes containing non-ASCII characters (ie ü).
2. Encode as MacBinary
3. Decode using The Unarchiver

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the output file to show exactly the same codes as the original file
but instead I see ? in
place of non-ASCII characters.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The Unarchiver 1.1, Mac OS 10.4.7 Intel.

Please provide any additional information below.
I've only noticed this happening with .bin files - it could happen with other
archive types too, I'm
not sure.

7-Zip support is very basic

The 7-Zip support uses the ANSI-C 7-Zip code, which only supports basic
features of the file format. It would be nice to have this extended. I have
requested that the 7-Zip author do some work on it, but that may or may not
happen.

Improvements on the 7-Zip code would be most welcome.

extract a zip file with many, many files will eat up all my memory

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Get a zip file with thousands of file (my file is 499 Mb and with files
no more than 50 KB each, so about 10 thousands file in it)
2. Extract it with The Unarchiver
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should be extracted normally, but it actually eat up all my memory (or
maybe CPU) and makes my OS hangs

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1 on Mac OSX 10.4.8 with Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz CPU

Please provide any additional information below.

No support for SITX files.

libxad does not support StuffIt SITX files. This format is propietary,
undocumented, and apparently not reverse engineered in any way.

Support needs to be added for it to libxad. This is way beyond my
capabilities, however. Help would be much appreciated.

An alternative would be to use the StuffIt Engine to handle SITX files, but
this would be hacky and inelegant.

Some dmgs tagged as bz2 when Downloading from Safari

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Get (http://www.andrewescobar.com/files/Enabler/Enabler1.3.dmg)
2. Watch
3. Learn

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the DMG to be downloaded and mounted with DiskImageMounter. Instead,
the file is
renamed ...dmg.bz2, and is unusable with either The Unarchiver or
BOMArchiveHelper

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0, 10.4.7

Please provide any additional information below.

The issue is clearly caused by The Unarchiver, as trashing it and rebuilding
the launch services
db ends it, and it begins with installation of The Unarchiver.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Get partially finshied .rar-archive
2. Try to extract
3. Program freezes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect unarchive, get nothing.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.3, just downloaded it of the web (2006-11-26). Using Mac OS X

No source code in SVN!

What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Visit: http://theunarchiver.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
- Or: svn checkout http://theunarchiver.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ theunarchiver

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- Well, I wanted some source code, or something. I figured that since there are
issues entered into
the tracker already the SVN access would be working too. :-)

SIT - File names containing slashes unstuffed improperly

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to unstuff a .sit file whose contents have file names containing
forward slashes (/).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Any occurrence of a forward slash in a file or folder name causes the
preceding text to be interpreted as a directory with the subsequent text in
the name to be interpreted as the actual file or folder to be unstuffed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Enhancement: Cannot expand more than one contained archive in sucession

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open an archive that has been encoded more than once, such as .dmg.zip
2. The Unarchiver fails to tell the resulting .dmg to open
3. The user must manually open the .dmg, losing productivity

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect that a multi-encoded archive be fully unarchived in one sequence, even
if by more than
one application. But there is no preference in The Unarchiver allowing me to
request this
behavior.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3 on 10.4.8

Please provide any additional information below.
Please add a preference to The Unarchiver that tells it, like Stuffit Expander,
to continue to expand
contained archives until left with a non-archive file. Also need to TU to tell
disk images to mount
if they are left after an archive is expanded. This could be combined with the
previous preference
or added separately.

Prompt for encoding pops up behind Finder, easily missed

Whenever The Unarchiver prompts me for the encoding of an archive - and I
suppose this goes for other prompts, as well - its window does not appear
on top of the window stack, so it's easy to miss - giving the impression
that nothing at all happened.

It should appear on top, but it would also be very useful if The Unarchiver
appeared in the dock for the duration of an operation, so that you know
that it has windows.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Unsure; I've only experienced the issue with an archive of a specific folder,
so far.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the archive to be expanded normally.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Does not expand sit archives correctly

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a sit archive that has a root folder that contains files.
2. Wait about half a second for TheUnarchiver to finish. A lot shorter than
it should be.
3. Examine the contents of the expanded archive.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Some sit files don't expand at all, and others that have a root folder that
precedes the files don't expand correctly i.e. the folder for the expanded
archive is created, but not any of the files that should be in it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TheUnarchiver 1.1
OS X 10.4.7

Please provide any additional information below.
I have appended two archives that shows the problems. The first shows the
empty folder, and the second shows nothing at all.
The same archives I try this with expand correctly via StuffitExpander.

Praise.
I love the way TheUnarchiver appends '-n' to the file/folder name when
expanding if the file/folder already exists unlike StuffitExpander which
wreaks havoc on extensions.

Add support for PAR/PAR2 records

There's no support for PAR/PAR2 records. This could theoretically be added,
but currently I am not sure I have the time. Therefore, any external help
would be very much appreciated.

For anyone interested in helping out with this: libxad reads data through a
custom callback handler, that implements open/read/seek/close
functionality. Multi-part archives are handled transparently through this,
for instance. A PAR/PAR2 handler could be written that works like the
multi-archive handler but additionally fills in any missing pieces by itself.

Test rar file not decompressed correctly

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download attached test.rar file.
2. Attempt to open it with The Unarchiver
3. See that test.txt is not revealed.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Command line unrar installed through fink correctly expands the test archive.
Even StuffIt works,
though it creates an extra directory.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0

Please provide any additional information below.
You should also check and make sure the file is closed correctly. After trying
to decompress the
test archive with The Unarchiver the archive cannot be deleted throught the
Trash, as it brings up
the "Still in Use" error.

No support for RAR encryption

The RAR client that XADMaster.frameworks adds to libxad has no support for
encryption in RAR files. This apparently uses AES, and should be easy
enough to add, but I have been too lazy to do so due to the lack of
encrypted RAR files in the wild.

"Select All" sets oldHandler of already-checked formats to Unarchiver

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Unarchiver preferences, enable some or all formats.
2. Press "Select all".
3. Observe that the formats that were previously checked can not be unchecked

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Please provide any additional information below.

Examining the property list generated by Unarchiver shows that items checked by

and can be unchecked. Formats already checked are now shown as:
oldHandler.cx.c3.ha-archive String cx.c3.theunarchiver
and unchecking or choosing "Deselect all" for them has no effect.

.sit files have generic "unix executable" icon

When the unarchiver is set to handle .sit files, they appear with a generic
"unix executable" icon
instead of the unarchiver archive icon. The archive icon appears correct for
zip, rar, and all other
archive types I've used so far. When .sit's are set to open with stuffit
expander, they use the
stuffit icon properly.

1. do a get info on a .sit file
2. open with: other...
3. select "the unarchiver"
4. the icon works correctly
5. hit the "change all" button
6. the icon turns into the "unix executable" icon
7. all the other .sit's use the "unix executable" icon as well
8. icon problem persists after restart

I'm using the unarchiver 1.3. on os 10.4.7, on a dual 2.3 ghz g5
