The latest release (v1.2) largely addresses this issue. Standard nfs mounts now use an asynchronous api and are considerably faster. We tested this same mount multithreaded, but there is no appreciable difference.
1.2 also includes an experimental mount mode that does a kernel mount of the remote server, and attaches a fuse mount to that in order to introduce id mapping behaviors. That mount mode is exposed through the nfs-experimental service plan. It is not single threaded.
