vocoder's Introduction

Web Audio Vocoder

This application (also shown at I/O 2012) implements a 28-band (actually variable number of bands) vocoder - a "robotic voice" processor. It's a pretty complex audio processing demo. It also supports live input, and has several controls exposed; it supports MIDI control over the pitch and other parameters.

Check it out, feel free to submit issues or requests, fork, submit pull requests, etc.

The live app is at https://cwilso.github.io/Vocoder/.

vocoder's Issues

Implement stacked, controllable chords for carrier

via Chris Rogers:

I was thinking that if you had 3 stacked oscillators then you could play musical "triads" and assign the keyboard keys to change chords and modulate to different keys. You could have a simple JSON structure with the triad semitone (or "cents") values... I think this would add a lot since you could play chord progressions rather simply this way. Obviously MIDI will be way better, but in the meantime...

Vocoder demo

Hi Chris
I was watching an audacity tutorial recently and it mentioned your vocoder which would be ideal for a project I am working on.

Does the link to your vocoder still work, please?

https://webaudiodemos.appspot.com/Vocoder/index.html#

I was hoping to perhaps load a vocal into it somehow (or record one) but it won’t respond.
I am on Windows 10.

Help understanding the Waveshaper

Hello cwilso,

I'm learning going through your code and was wondering if you could provide a bit more documentation for the waveshaper ?

For instance: what the function "e4" does? Is that some sort of distortion algorithm ? Where did it come from?

A more personal question: for generateColortouchCurve and generateMirrorCurve, is there a tool / website you were using to visualise and/or hear the curves ?

Thanks for such nice resource, i'm working on a experiment with vocoder will let you know when i get it going ( :
