DogecoinBadge MuchWow

Select language: EN | CN | PT | FA | VI

Dogecoin is a community-driven cryptocurrency that was inspired by a Shiba Inu meme. The Dogecoin Core software allows anyone to operate a node in the Dogecoin blockchain networks and uses the Scrypt hashing method for Proof of Work. It is adapted from Bitcoin Core and other cryptocurrencies.

For information about the default fees used on the Dogecoin network, please refer to the fee recommendation.

Website: dogecoin.com

Usage 💻

To start your journey with Dogecoin Core, see the installation guide and the getting started tutorial.

The JSON-RPC API provided by Dogecoin Core is self-documenting and can be browsed with dogecoin-cli help, while detailed information for each command can be viewed with dogecoin-cli help <command>. Alternatively, see the Bitcoin Core documentation - which implement a similar protocol - to get a browsable version.

Such ports

Dogecoin Core by default uses port 22556 for peer-to-peer communication that is needed to synchronize the "mainnet" blockchain and stay informed of new transactions and blocks. Additionally, a JSONRPC port can be opened, which defaults to port 22555 for mainnet nodes. It is strongly recommended to not expose RPC ports to the public internet.

Function mainnet testnet regtest
P2P 22556 44556 18444
RPC 22555 44555 18332

dogecoin.com's Issues

Enhancement: Add Doge Meme page

Feature Description

Doge is known for memes. It would be so much fun for website visitors to see some of the best Doge memes on this website.
Can I work on adding an amazing "Doge Meme Page" to this website?

Dynamically generate copyright year

Screen Shot 2021-04-12 at 3 20 47 PM

Feature Description

The copyright year is currently a static value. To avoid updating index.html essentially every year, I propose this value be dynamically generated

Alternatives

See above

Replace MyDoge completely

In the main page, Dogekeeper is linked for iOS, but the guides are still for MyDoge. Maybe someone could make a new guide?

About Localization

Hi, I'm a Japanese translator of Bitcoin.org.
Does this project need Japanese translation?
I'll translate this project as a volunteer if needed.

Adblocker is blocking wallet download links

Describe the issue

When I click any of the download links, my ad blocker (uBlock Origin) blocks the request and a download prompt never appears. I assume this may occur with other ad blockers as well. Can anyone else reproduce this?

Can you reliably reproduce the issue?

If so, please list the steps to reproduce below:

  1. Load the page with uBlock chrome extension installed
  2. Click any of the download links. Nothing should happen except a console error.
  3. Disable uBlock and reload the page.
  4. Click any of the download links. The download should work.

Add hindi language (code: hi ) translation

Feature Description

Add translation for the Hindi language as Hindi is the most spoken language in India and
it is also the official language of the country along with English.

Alternatives

No alternative

iOS wallet app.

Is it possible to provide a reliable iOS based wallet app along with the android wallet app?

Dogechain Wallet

The website has been linking to the Dogechain Wallet for quite some time, but the Dogechain website still states the wallet is coming soon. It might be an idea to temporarily remove the link until Dogechain have the online wallets available?

Redesign Pointers/Suggestions

Hello contributors, I have worked on a complete redesign of dogecoin.com and I want to get some of your attention to it.

I would LOVE to get some suggestions or pointers on what should be added to the page, and how to make it better.
Thanks.
it currently looks like this (live demo is currently available here):

My thoughts on Dogecoin

Feature Description

It's good I love doge coins And I could get some Doge Coins for free I like doge and his coins

[Feature request] Dogecoin Core guides

Currently, there are only Multidoge guides. Multidoge is old and unmaintained and therefore, the only fully auditable wallet on Desktop right now is Dogecoin Core. Thus, we need to add guides for Dogecoin Core.

Does anyone have a set-up guide with screenshots, or would someone care to create one?

Italian Translation

I have started working on an Italian translation. It should be done soon. Is it OK? Can we add it to the website?

I think an Italian version would make Dogecoin a bit more appealing to a lot of people that might have difficulties with English.

Online wallets

dogechain.info, dogeapi.com and moolah.io are listed as recommended online wallets, with the note "These online wallets are not owned or maintained by Dogecoin or the Dogecoin Foundation. While we are satisfied they are trustworthy, reliable services - please use at your own risk."

The key phrase here is "While we are satisfied they are trustworthy". dogechain.info details why its wallet is secure and is in fact a trustless wallet (i.e. you don't have to trust them if you can check the javascript source code). For the other two wallets, I wasn't able to find any information about there security procedures. So the natural thing to ask is: Why are they listed as trustworthy? What exactly does that word mean in this context? Is it just trust that they won't run with our funds?

(and sorry, no personal offence meant, just asking questions which I think should be asked)

Dropdown Selector for Languages

Feature Description

Dropdown to select the language at the bottom of the page instead of the current HTML list. This would let us add multiple languages without crowding the footer.

Use Case(s)

This would be extremely useful as more and more language translations start coming in. While I see that Bitcoin.org for example offers only a few languages, I think it is important for a currency of the people to have a website in as many different languages as possible.

Alternatives

The language selector could be placed in the header instead, but always in dropdown form.

License for dogecoin.com

What is the license for dogecoin.com? I wanted to throw it into duolingo.com to translate the site into different languages, but can only do so if the site has a non-commercial license.

I18n

Dogecoin.com definitely needs internationalisation to reach non english speaking shibes.
I would be please to help :)

@ummjackson : did you already think about it? Any preferences to achive this goal?

[Feature request] Contribution page

The following suggestion was posted on r/dogecoindev:

On the Bitcoin.org site, they have https://bitcoin.org/en/support-bitcoin which kind of consolidate some of the ways to either use or help BTC grow, as well as supporting documentation and dev info. I think that helps nestle the info into an easy-to-digest manner.

I think it would be great to have something like that on the new site along with content that discusses how to support and advocate for Doge in our communities or online.

I'd be enlightened to see at least the following items reflected for starters:

  1. Doing good / spread the word
  2. Running a full node
  3. Maintaining this website's content and translations - with a link to this repo
  4. Supporting and educating people about Dogecoin - with a link to r/dogeducation
  5. Development - with a link to r/dogecoindev (?)

What does everyone think? And is someone willing to pick this up?

code of conduct

Feature Description

There is a need to add a code of conduct readme on this repo

Additional Context

There is already a great code of conduct which may be suitable for shiba inus
i will send a pull request if necesarry with a template of the code which would also
be open to modifictations

"Translatable links"

All links and guide pictures are currently in English, so a possibility to change links to localized ones in the i18n strings would be nice.

Olark support chat panel?

Assuming we could get enough knowledgeable shibes willing to volunteer their time (I could be available most evenings in EST), do you guys think it'd be a good idea to have an Olark customer support plugin on dogecoin.com? We could answer visitors' questions right away there, no need to go to IRC or reddit. I'm confident that we have enough people who'd be willing to man the chat and answer questions. We could have an application process for people who want to help out to ensure they are trustworthy and knowledgeable. What do you guys think?

Embedded Youtube Video http -> blocked by Chrome

Http content on a https page is blocked by Chrome and possibly other browsers (see https://www.howtogeek.com/443032/what-is-mixed-content-and-why-is-chrome-blocking-it/). When trying to load it, I get the following output in the console log:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://dogecoin.com/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure frame 'http://www.youtube.com/embed/_KVZmS_UO5I?enablejsapi=1&autoplay=1'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

The fix is pretty much a 1liner :):

<iframe style="border:none" width="400" height="225" src="**https://**www.youtube.com/embed/000al7ru3ms" allowfullscreen></iframe>

However I don't have access to create a branch + pull request. Not worked on many GitHub projects before, but if you hook me up I can create a small pull request.

Greetings
Özhan

Link doges.org as community

Hi doges.org used to be linked on dogecoin.com as the original forum and community. Would you guys add it back as I asked Jackson Palmer about this and he said to submit a pull request and it will be added. I request the admin and mods of dogecoin.com to add doges.org in community section of the site so new people know about it. doges.org already has over 13000 members and all info regarding dogecoin and anytime someone needs a problem solved regarding dogecoin they post a thread and problem is solved. Thanks in advance for your cooperation fellow shibes.

Open Source Dogecoin.com

@PowerLemons @ummjackson

There is no License file for this project and thus technically it is not open source. Since people are making improvements and especially since people are adding translations, you should explicitly create a open source license file for this so you don't run into any issues down the line.

Or if you don't want it open sourced, then you should create the appropriate license for that. Either way, there should be a license.

Add an essential function for the getting started of dogecoin.com

Hi,

I have an idea to make the getting started realy powerful!

Let the actual shibe create a unique link with doge on (max 5000 doges) and they just have to share this link with new shibe who will be completly guided with the getting started and at the end, they put her freshly new dogecoin address and they receive the amount who was on the link!

Sry for bad english, I'm french o/
