Fate Character Sheet Manager

Something I made to help me run a game based on Fate Core rules. Not super professional, but happy to help if someone wants to use this also.

Project goals

This software isn't meant to be a virtual table top simulator or an online RPG platform, but instead a simple additional tool to use in live game sessions, making them more streamlined by providing each player with access to all the relevant information.

Create installation instructions

An INSTALL.md file could be used for installation instructions, separate from the README.md that is focused on the web app's usage.

Reproduce

• Create a new character
• Click into the High Concept field
• Hit tab twice to navigate to the first Additional Aspect field
• Type your aspect

Expected

The aspect typed should be in the 3rd field with the hint "Additional Aspect".

Actual

The first few characters typed show up in the first and second Aspect fields ("High Concept" and "Trouble".)

Additional notes

This is reproducible on commits 2abc195 through 46e3c0a of the main branch. (I didn't dig back further.

If you paste instead of type the Aspect, the whole thing shows up in the first Aspect field.

Also reproducible on the Campaign Aspect fields.

Tested on Safari (16.6), Chrome (117.0.5938.88), and Firefox (109.01 and 117.0.1) on Mac OS X Ventura (13.5.2) on an M1 processor.

Container queries for CSS

Use https://github.com/tailwindlabs/tailwindcss-container-queries and redefine the character sheet components. Allow dynamic sheet resizing.

Updating to Nextjs 13.5.2 breaks netlifly instance.

Increase aspect text area

Increase Aspects text area so more text is visible at one time.

Disallow selecting the same skill multiple times

It currently is possible to select the same skill on more than one spot in the pyramid. Skill should only be listed once.

Ad-hoc/free-form skill list

Allow user to type in skills not in the list as they're writing populating the character sheet.

Multiple sheets visible at once on larger displays.

The app is supposed to be mobile first, but on larger screens (PC, Table on portrait mode?) several sheets could be displayed at once.

There also could be more compact version of the sheet component.

Campaign custom skill lists

Allow user to edit the default skill list to change the prepopulated drop-down menu for a given campaign setting.

Allow creating extra aspects

Some settings may allow more than 5 aspects. An option to add aspects is needed.

Copy skill lists between campaigns

Copy custom skill lists from one campaign to another.
