eyewriter-1.0's Introduction

Introduction

This is the EyeWriter 1.0 project.

For use with the version outlined here:

Build

On Windows:

To build the project you need to first download and install the correct openFrameworks package and the corresponding Code::Blocks version. Then you need to position the root eyewriter folder (the one which contains the subfolders bin, obj, src, etc.) in a subfolder of the 'apps' folder of the openFrameworks package. So for example the 'eyewriter.workspace' file will be in the "of_v0.7.4_win_cb_release\apps\eyewriter\eyewriter-1.0" folder. Once you've done that, you should be able to open the 'eyewriter.workspace' file using Code::Blocks and hit the "Build and run" button.

Usage

The videos here explain how to use the software.

Note that mouse support is currently disabled (commented out) and that the "mouse simulation" button in "calibration" mode is dead (not yet implemented).

Also note that some settings (most notably whether the software will read its input from a video file or from a camera) can only be changed manually in the "eyewriter-1.0\bin\data\settings\globalSettings.xml" file.

Prerequisites

  • Different versions of eyewriter may need different versions of openFrameworks in order to compile and run. In turn, openFrameworks may require different versions of specific IDEs. A list of combinations that are known to work should be documented in the 'Compatibility' section below, while the openFrameworks requirements should be documented in the openFrameworks page.
  • Apple's QuickTime Player must be installed?!

Compatibility

  • This version is known to work on Windows with openFrameworks 0.7.4 and Code::Blocks 12.11.
  • Mac OS X?

eyewriter-1.0's Issues

typingScene.cpp

Hi @ofZach im trying to compile the eyewriter project for a social technology course. I was waiting some issues from deprecated functions.
1.Change getPixels() by getPixels().getData()
2.Change ofRect by ofRectangle
3. THIS IS WHEN I'VE PROBLEMS: in the class typingScene.cpp appear this error in the terminal.

typingScene.cpp:384:43: warning: comparison between signed and unsigned integer expressions [-Wsign-compare] for (int i = 0; i < displayMessage.size(); i++){

Im not sure if this is the error but thats my last line and in the upper lines appear the same, maybe u know how solve this?, im running with Ubuntu and the last OF version.
tnks a lot for the support.

missing files issue

Hi,

I'm doing a final project for the Uni and try to use eyeWriter as a mouse, but I have an issue with missing files and cannot compile any code at all. Depending on the version I used
(eye writer or eyewriter 1.0) there are different files listed. I attached screenshot from ver 1.0 that shows what's the problem. I'm using mac on osx, tried multiple xcode versions and OF releases, all to no avail.

Please help if you can, I will really appreciate.

Thanks!

ofMain.h

I downloaded the latest version of the of the Eyewriter 1.0 code (the .zip file, I don't know if this makes a difference). When I compile it, I get the error that there is no ofMain.h file.

Build SOS

Hello,
I hope some people will see this SOS. I'm a beginner and I'm trying to build the Eyewriter source code (for 3 weeks now). I've tried most OF versions since 0.06, on either codeblocks or xcode (3&4), multiple OSX (10.5,10.7), macs and windows. I just can't make this work... The furthest i've been was a sucessful build on pc but the pupil blob wasn't tracked (opencv issue i believe)

So my question is rather simple, what's the initial settings (IDE, OS, OF version) to have to make this work? is there some explainations step-by-step somewhere ?

Best,

fitellipse.cpp info

i need to which technique is used in fitellpse.cpp and also want to knew about the function of variables used in this file. an overview will be enough. thanks
