Boxes Flatpak on Clear Linux not working

The Boxes GUI displays the following message at first run:
Oops, something went wrong
Boxes cannot access the virtualization backend.

If i try to create a new virtual machine:
Virtualization extensions are unavailable on your system.
Check your BIOS settings to enable them.

Gnome Boxes not working on Endless OS 3.4.2

I have a new Acer Swift 3 preinstalled with Endless OS 3.4.2.

Gnome Boxes from the Endless App Center is not working. Any help to fix this would be appreciated. I've already posted on Endless Community; they suggest I try here. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times and downloaded so-called updates as prompted, all to no avail.

No 3D Acceleration Option

Hi! I'm in Fedora Silverblue 36 right now and I don't have the option for 3D Acceleration. Tried Android x86, Fedora Workstation, and Linux Mint and all of them have bad video performance. I've had this issue since Fedora 35. I've already looked at the issues tab and the two related issues I found are closed because the maintainer couldn't reproduce the problem.

I'm using an AMD GPU (Ryzen 5 3400G, Radeon Vega 11 Graphics). Latest update of silverblue.

[Silverblue 35] 3D Acceleration option suddenly gone. VM which had it set before crash on startup

Description

Updated an SB35 machine today (7 days worth of updates). Noticed that many previously working VMs in Gnome Boxes (from flathub) were crashing on startup. All affected VMs had 3D acceleration enabled. The option is no longer shown in the Properties pane for any VM.

Gnome Boxes cannot connect to libvirtd

I have installed Gnome Boxes from flathub, but it does not work. I’m getting the following message when starting it: “Boxes cannot access the virtualization backend”. In the terminal I can see the following:

The above is from a laptop running Fedora Silverblue 29 beta. I have another PC running Fedora 28 that has a similar problem:

This second system has a working libvirt installation that I use with Vagrant.

Are there any additional steps that I need to follow to get it running?

No way to share a USB drive between VMs

OS: Endless 3.4.6 (development)
Boxes version: 3.28.5
Virtual Machine OS: Endless

If I right click a VM and click "Properties", then go to "Devices and Shares", there's no way to add a USB drive, which I think is specific to the flatpak of Boxes because I've done it before with Boxes.

Boxes (flatpak) doesn't run any OS in elementary OS

Bizarre screen after update 3.32.0.1-5fa4fe0d

I got the newest Gnome Boxes and the problem remains.
I'm stuck with a bizarre screen and I don't see an option to disable the 3D acceleration (i saw something like that in a print screen from Gnome Boxes Twitter account).
How can I force Gnome Boxes to show the option to disable the 3D acceleration?

allowing boxes to be provisioned with system-wide visibility

I am not experienced in the details of FlatPak, and realize that applications operate with very particular limitations in system access.

Yet, I have wondered whether it would be possible for the FlatPak distribution of Boxes to support the creation and use of VMs that are accessible to all users on a system, rather than storing the images and manifest beneath the user's home.

Cannot add remote connection

I am unable to create a remote connection on Boxes. When I press the +-button, "Create a Virtual Machine" is opened immediately. The shortcut Shift-Ctrl-N does not work to open the remote connection menu. Is this a known issue?

Cree una maquina virtual con W10 y quiero compartir archivos entre mi host y la maquina pero no me deja, arrastro el archivo desde mi ventana de documentos (Host) hasta la maquina virtual (W10), me aparece el signo para copiar en la maquina virtual pero no pasa nada. ¿esto es posible o no lo tiene cajas? sino es posible, ¿la maquina virtual puede leer memorias USB? porque lo intente y tampoco funciona.

As far as I can tell, Boxes doesn't actually need X11 and works perfectly fine under pure Wayland. If that is indeed the case, then please add --socket=fallback-x11 to finish-args.

Cannot find IP to connect from host using ssh

When I used rpm gnome-boxes, I always was able to log in with ssh.

With flatpak version I cannot. Is there anything special to be done to get that? All boxes seem to have IP 10.0.2.15.

Remove old DConf access method

The "Edit Configuration" button doesn't open a VM's configuration to edit

On a VM's Preferences page clicking the Edit Configuration button prompts asking to create a snapshot first (as it should) but regardless of my choice of yes or no it never opens the VM's configuration.

Boxes cannot access the virtualization backend - Ubuntu Cosmic

I installed boxes from flathub, and Im getting the error from the subjet.
Im running ubuntu cosmit, and flatpak from alex larson ppa.
virt-manager works properly. Gnome-boxes installed from apt also work.
I tried killing the daemon before running as stated in another issue, but the problem persists.

Windows 10 VM crashes due to cursor events right after being restored from disk

Since f69128e, restoring VMs now works again. However, when performing quick mouse clicks/drags right after restoring a Windows 10 VM from disk, the VM crashes in qxldod.sys:

It appears to be a known issue in QEMU/SPICE. It was discussed in this bug report and was fixed by this commit to spice.

The first version of spice that includes the fix is 0.14.1, while the one packaged with Boxes is currently 0.14.0.

I haven't tried applying this commit to our packaged 0.14.0 to confirm that it fixes the issue, but I did test Boxes with spice version 0.14.2 and the issue no longer reproduces.

Application name metadata incorrect (small typo)

Memory and disk size buttons don't work with version 42

Hi there,
After the update to v42 and the change of the memory and disk size from a slider to a -/+ button it looks like they don't work reliably.
The + button only increases any of those once, and the - button is able to decrease the values but when it reaches the minimum, if you hit it again, it will reset it to the max allowed value.

Boxes won't even open on Silverblue 30 Beta

I installed via flatpak --user install flathub org.gnome.Boxes, tried to launch via the icon on GNOME, and it didn't work. When running from command-line via:

3D acceleration doesn't work on first boot of VM after the host rebooted.

System: Galago Pro (galp5)
CPU: i7-1165G7
GPU: 1650Ti Mobile (disabled)
Host OS: Fedora Silverblue 35
Guest OS: Fedora Workstation 35

Problem:
Guest OS is not able to use 3D acceleration on first boot.

Expected behaviour:
3D acceleration working OOTB.

Steps to reproduce:

Reboot host OS
Start Gnome Boxes
Launch guest with 3D acceleration enabled
VM fails to start with qemu-system-x86_64: -device virtio-vga-gl,id=video0,max_outputs=1,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x1: opengl is not available
Launch guest with 3D acceleration disabled
Shutdown guest gracefully
Enable 3D acceleration
Launch guest again, now 3D acceleration works

App starts in fullscreen no buttons (flatpak

After installing the app via flatpak or from sources on chrome os via crostini, it only starts in fullscreen and you don't have any buttons to create a vm. It would be the perfect tool for chromebooks to get hands on a full linux system beside from virt-manager.
