freebsd-papers's Introduction

FreeBSD Source:

This is the top level of the FreeBSD source directory.

FreeBSD is an operating system used to power modern servers, desktops, and embedded platforms. A large community has continually developed it for more than thirty years. Its advanced networking, security, and storage features have made FreeBSD the platform of choice for many of the busiest web sites and most pervasive embedded networking and storage devices.

For copyright information, please see the file COPYRIGHT in this directory. Additional copyright information also exists for some sources in this tree - please see the specific source directories for more information.

The Makefile in this directory supports a number of targets for building components (or all) of the FreeBSD source tree. See build(7), config(8), FreeBSD handbook on building userland, and Handbook for kernels for more information, including setting make(1) variables.

For information on the CPU architectures and platforms supported by FreeBSD, see the FreeBSD website's Platforms page.

For official FreeBSD bootable images, see the release page.

How to handle co-authors

I want to add a talk I co-presented at EuroBSDCon 2021 and need some advice on how to name the files/directories as there are two last names. Do I just pick one of the author last names or add both? E.g.
tuffli-smart_Update_A_Permissively_Licensed_Alternative_to_smartctl
or
dexter-tuffli-smart_Update_A_Permissively_Licensed_Alternative_to_smartctl

(https://2021.eurobsdcon.org/home/speakers/#smart if it matters)

Add RSS for new content added

It is nice to have a RSS for new content get added, but we probably shouldn't just go with git commit and merge because it's better to skip the minor fixes and site updates.

Consider external file storage?

The repository size is over 400MB, soon it will be hard to clone and maintain. It's time to think about a more efficient way to add new content.
