So it turns out narcoleptic is probably not the best companion to a serial-data-based application, as it screws up the data stream a bit. Timings are also a little off, but that's fine since the sketch doesn't have to output something every 30s on the dime.
I was seeing entries like:
Could not post data to dashboard app: Temperature must be a float.
2015-02-12 02:52:59.774418, ??rªj
Obviously not a valid temperature :). So for now, I'll waste about 30-50mW leaving the two Uno LEDs and the rest of the circuits on.
