Dropbox for Elementary OS

This script, designed for Elementary OS, installs the latest version of Dropbox and integrates it with WingPanel.

Installation

Before you install

You need to install git and uninstall any previous version of Dropbox on your system (Software Center, apt-get...).

Install

git clone https://github.com/zant95/elementary-dropbox /tmp/elementary-dropbox
bash /tmp/elementary-dropbox/install.sh

Uninstall

git clone https://github.com/zant95/elementary-dropbox /tmp/elementary-dropbox
bash /tmp/elementary-dropbox/uninstall.sh

Command line options

-y    Automatic "yes" to prompts
-n    Automatic "no" to prompts

Dropbox updates

This script itself doesn't handle updates. Dropbox will auto-update when a new version is available.

elementary-dropbox's Issues

Loki support ?

Works on Freya well, thanks.

But, Loki has no more Ayatana support, so I can't access my Dropbox app now.

Would you like to add the support for Loki with new indocator APIs or as dock item ?

Publish on AppCenter

Thanks for this great script, worked out of the box on Loki!

Can you make this installer available on the new elementary AppCenter (https://github.com/elementary/appcenter) so that elementary-dropbox integration replaces the nautilus-dropbox installer there?

Icon not showing in Wingpanel

Dear @zant95,

I installed your mod but the icon is not showin up in Wingpanel. The error message I am receiving is the following:

(dropbox:11657): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type 'GdkDisplayManager'

(dropbox:11657): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion 'result != 0' failed

(dropbox:11657): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion 'G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed

Do you have any idea why the icon is not showing up?

Don Hector, el script si instala dropbox pero no muestra el icono indicator en el panel, saludos

Old version installed in Loki?

I just installed Dropbox with the script, and it worked great.

The only thing is that it installed version 9.4.49, and from dropbox.com I can apparently download version 10.28:

No indicator, custom icons?

The indicator doesn't show in Wingpanel, and custom icons don't show in Applications. I had a previous install working fine but I think an update might have messed up some settings. Are there some files I should delete or edit to ensure a clean installation?

Dropbox icon present in other notifications in Loki

I've recently upgraded to Loki and elementary-dropbox works flawlessly except that the Dropbox icon is now present in some other notifications as well (especially in Slack).

Menu without text

Hi,
Very often when accessing Dropbox menu there is no text in it. See the screenshot. I'm using Loki. Interface Russian.

$'\r': command not found

I've gotten this error on a few lines: $'\r': command not found

had to do dos2unix on install.sh, uninstall.sh & common.sh to fix it.

No `~/.profile` when uninstalling.

I ran install.sh for the second time, when uninstalling, it alerted can't read ~/.profile.

If I create the file ~/.profile, it will continue.

Dropbox slowly start

Every time the system reboots the Dropbox starts indexing and synchronization process.

This is very costly. Is it possible to disable?

Dropbox is not installed?

I've just used this script on my elementary Luna (I know it is designed for Freya but I thought it should work just the same)

Dropbox seems to be working fine and the icon re-appeared on wingpanel, but now I have a different issue.

The command:

dropbox status

results in:

bash: /usr/bin/dropbox: No existe el archivo o el directorio

which translated to The file or folder does not exist. Why is this happening? IS it because I'm running Luna and not Freya?
