Add a wither potion effect

Maybe how you could do it is add wither dust to a weakness potion or add wither dust to an awkward potion?

Missing capability check causes crashes

Hi,

you need to check if the capability passed to the getCapability function is indeed the capability for the ItemHandler, otherwise you will cause crashes with anything requesting a capability other than an IItemHandler on your tiles. See TwelveIterationMods/RefinedRelocation2#28 for example.

Relevant line of code that needs an if(capability == ...) check:
https://github.com/LogicTechCorp/NetherEx/blob/4f7bb06ba11d5fbaa017aa66b9d56a0dd81b89ee/src/main/java/nex/tileentity/TileEntityInventory.java#L91

Question: 256 block high nether?

I'm looking for a mod that will generate a full 256 block high nether a la the Tall Nether Spigot plugin. Is this something you have on the roadmap?

Ember mob in Nether

It seems that Embers are Invisible in the current 1.12 modpack I am developing. I am not sure if it's an issue/bug with this mod, or another one is causing this. I can see Embers due to the mod Neat I have installed so I see the nameplate for the mob. But the mob its self is invisible.

NetherEx mobs are flammable.

The Wights in the Arctic Abyss regularly walk into the blue flames and immediately die.

Spore Creepers also seem to die to fire as well - at least on magma block.

I haven't tested every mob for flammability, but these two at least need some flame retardant :)

Spawners have pigs in them

The spawners I have come across all have pigs inside them instead of the mob they are actually spawning.

Thorn bush and frost [request]

It would be nice if thorn bushes would grow like reeds making them farmable. I really like the varying heights however so maybe you could have a hight variable randomly set when placed and then it would be decremented in each new segment until reaching 0 preventing it from growing any higher. Then to give it a little more functionality maybe it could be crafted into sticks giving the nether a new resource. Another way to add more functionality to your mod would to make it so that you could harvest the frost with sheers or silktouch and craft it using a 3x3 pattern into snowballs.

Natura Compatibility? [1.12]

Will u guys add some kind of compatibility? Between NetherEx and Natura? I really like both mods.
At this point, they are not working together at least for me. There are only Natura bioms/and other stuff. As soon as I disable Natura NetherEx biomes are there.

Rime Ore/Gem/Blocks Lack OreDict

Running NetherEx-1.11.2-1.1.8.9 (haven't tested latest, yet), I noticed that Rime lacks oredict entries for the ore, gems, and blocks.

Additionally, as there's also no furnace recipes for it (or for Amethyst Ore!), silk-touching the blocks gives you an effectively 'useless block' you have to place down and mine again to get Rime from. (Amethyst Ore is slightly better here, as Thermal Etc/Immersive Engineering both generate Pulverizer/Crusher recipes from the oredict entries, meaning the blocks can be turned into two Amethyst.)

As Amethyst has ore entries, and the blocks page on the wiki lists both of them as Ores, I assume it's unintentional that Rime's missing?

Obsidian boat issues

The obsidian boat doesn't really row like the vanilla boats, and when in lava, you can see lava inside the boat.

Enoki not growing properly

The enoki generate just fine but when place by the player whenever the cap grows to the side the next update will destroy it. I Assume this is because it is only looking above it for a stem block

Question: Taming Mobs.

Will there ever be mobs that can be tamed? I am not just talking about like with wolves with the whole feed-bone-get-dog deal. Would it be possible to make special mobs that can be tamed through more complex means?

This mod has taken very cool approach to augmenting the nether, and I am very impressed by it so far. If you want any of my ideas on different kinds of tamable mobs that could fit within the theme of the mod, I would be more than happy to share them.

Regardless of your answer, I look forward to what this mod can do in the future.
Keep up the great work. :)

Ticking Entity Crash / Animania Compatibility Issue

There is some kind of compatibility issue with NetherEx and Animania.
https://github.com/capnkirok/animania

EDIT: https://github.com/capnkirok/animania/issues/275

When both are installed, I end up getting a ticking entity crash, seemingly with an Animania mob (piglet) but it only happens when NetherEx is installed. Same map, same location does not crash if NetherEx is disabled.

Fungi Forest Suggestions

I wanted to suggest to make spawn red and brown elder mushroom in their small form in Fungi Forest, and maybe vanilla red and brown mushrooms, for diversying this biome.

[1.11.2/1.12]Player spawns underneath Rime and Steel portals

So the problem I've been having is any portals lit with the Rime And Steel (including ones in shapes that would work in vanilla) will spawn me directly under them on the other side. In survival, this usually means suffocating to death inside blocks. Portals lit with the regular Flint And Steel do not have this problem. I'm using Nether Ex version 1.11.2-1.1.11.12 .

1.12 Netherwart not growing anymore

Have a strange issue with netherwart which doesn't grow anymore. Its stuck at 0% growth for minecraft days and weeks. This happens in all dimensions and not only in SSP, but also in creative mode.

I tried to figure out which mod to blame and finally found my netherwart growing again when NetherEx was disabled in the mods folder (renamed to *.txt).

Data:

MC 1.12
Forge 14.21.1.2420
NetherEx 2.1.8.9

Possible issue with mushroom block drops

Is it intended for elder mushrooms to be harvest-able by explosion? By this I mean they drop blocks when blown up. Also, are there plans to add hammers for the other ores, or is it intended for there to only be a golden bone hammer? Would you add the ability to mine vanilla mushroom blocks with the golden bone axe, as well? I don't know where to put some of this stuff so I'm putting it here.

Also, what do the pigtificate villages look like?

Responses to MCF question

API

Core

  • NetherEx Code -> Why are you creating a tab if you never need it?
  • ClientProxy Code -> Why are you only setting this on the client? You do want this to work on servers, right?

Crash with CoFH Core installed 1.11.2

CoFH core version: 1.11.2-4.2.6.13
NetherEx version: 1.1.2.3

Believe its a conflict with the dynamically generated fluids from CoFH core that are used by thermal foundation/expansion/dynamics.

Github link: https://pastebin.com/YRitvuw3 (this thing gets exponentially larger if I leave it running)

A lot of problems with modded mobs

From what I noticed:

  • EnderZoo mobs spawn in the nether while they shouldn't
  • AbyssalCraft demon pigs, cows and chickens doesn't seem to spawn
  • Quark wraith doesn't seem to spawn

Heated Quartz Ore dupe

Place a heated quartz ore, mine with vanilla silk touch, press R or middle mouse for inventory sort, or don't do anything, you'll get 2 back

Mod Integration

While looking at the output from Biome Twaeker I noticed a few things that will make it difficult for your mod to integrate with other mods. All of your biomes have there temperature and humidity set to 0.5, dictionary types set to "PLAINS", and rain enabled; all normal settings for plains but not the nether. humidity should probably be at 0.0 for all biomes. The nether temperature is normally 2.0 and has the dictionary types of "HOT", "DRY", "NETHER". Frozen biomes usually have a temperature of 0.0 and the dictionary type of "COLD". Some other dictionary types you may want to add are "MUSHROOM" and "WASTELAND"

Reducing the amount and size of added biomes.

Where and how would we go about reducing the size of the biomes added by this mod. It seems like the nether is nothing but NetherEx biomes with a very small chance of seeing normal ones. This is an issue when you have other mods that add to the nether like Dimensional Ores.
