it would be very nice,

like this :

We love helping out, and we want you to get answers as quickly as possible! Here’s a simple tip to make sure your questions get noticed and answered faster: Ask your actual question right away!

Instead of starting with "Can I ask a question?" or "Is anyone there to help?"—just go ahead and explain your problem. The more details you give, the easier it is for someone to help you. Thank you...

Is a language for hindi needed?

Is a language for hindi needed? I can work on that and create a pull request.

However, I want to confirm just so my efforts aren't wasted.

Here are some points to note:

  • Most of the indians already know english, especially developers

Consider adding CODEOWNERS

I'd like to review changes to Korean translations (ie. #69 ) but I don't want to get notified for every PR which is probably not something I can even read.

So... Can we add CODEOWNERS as an opt-in basis so I (or those who also want to review changes made to the repo) can get review notification when someone opens a PR against languages directory? (Well it might send review for non-translation PRs but I think those who opt in to this can live with that).

[Feature request] Making partials

Having a multiple files with almost the same header/footer(/sidebar) is a bad design.
So we might consider breaking the layout into smaller flexible files using HTML's <!--#include file="partial.html"--> or EJS's <% include partials/partial.ejs %>.
I do support moving into EJS because you can also pass some parameters in flexible ways.
What do you think @tulir

Ask for Advice, Not Permission

In the "Other similar problems" section at the end, I think a related idea that is really potent is Ask for Advice, Not Permission 1. I recognize that it might not specifically fit in with the other pages referenced, but it's another similar-in-nature communication antipattern that would be nice to call out.

The problem with permission is that you are implicitly asking someone else to take some responsibility for your decision... Advice, on the other hand, is easy. “Hey, I was thinking about doing X, what advice would you give me on that?” In this instance you are showing a lot of respect to the person you are asking but not saddling them with responsibility because the decision is still on you.

I'd like to open a discussion for adding this to the similar problems list.

Footnotes

  1. If you're a fan of Don't Ask to Ask et al. and haven't heard of Bosworth's blog, the whole site might be worth checking out. He goes into a lot of larger-scale organizational communication issues. Many of them aren't snappy catchphrases, but still valuable. (Not sponsored, I'm just a big fan.)

[Feature request] Supported languages bar

Accessing the other languages ONLY by typing the language code in the link is a bad idea (hard to discover!), maybe we should add hyperlinks to the other languages in a new sidebar or in the footer below.

Awesome resource! Could we soften the language?

Thanks for putting up this website, very much appreciate the spirit of this :)

I'm worried specifically that the example of I have a question about Java but I'm too lazy to actually formalize it in words might come off as overly brittle, especially to beginners in a field or newgrads to a company. I'd want to inform and educate, without potentially embarrassing or making folks feel guilty.

Is there a way we could update or provide a variant of the site that removes this bit? (maybe https://snowflake.dontasktoask.com/ :P?)

Thanks!
