Can I beta test the iOS version [email protected]
Hi, I'm really new to this beta, so please forgive me if this question has been answered before (I might be newbish).
I tried to connect my iPhone 6 to my PC's Gamestream just now, and everything is working great.
Except I can't actually control anything on screen. If used the cursor, tapping doesn't click on anything. Does it only work with a controller, or do onscreen controls work as well?
Hello guys,
I kept an eye on your project for month and i think its a fascinating project.
So if you need more beta-tester, i would offer myself. I've got an iPhone 5s and an iPad air.
So tell me if you need more tester.
Thanks a lot!

This is obviously not urgent at all. However, i was trying out AirPlay and it seems like this would be an amazing feature to have. Currently, mirroring from any 4:3 device creates a 4:3 mirror that has black bars.
16:9 device like iPhone 6 can do full screen screen mirroring however the mirroring is over all slower than actual video stream. Causes a drop in frames every now in then in the GameStream itself.
Will be amazing if you can add this feature...eventually, I just wanted to throw it out there.
UPDATE: "Controllers for all" appears to be working fine with the latest build, however I'd like to ask if there are plans to somehow include support for L3 and R3 thumbstick buttons that are standard in console controllers. I know that MFI controllers don't use those 2 buttons, but I think it'll be rather difficult to play a lot of PC games without them. Any ideas?
Thanks for the hard work!
Tested with iPad Mini - Retina. This occurs right after the app says that its establishing the audio stream.
The streaming PC shows Steam BP mode, and moving the controller shows movement on the original PC. There is no observable latency in terms of the sound (gauged by Steam's noises and controller actions).
This happens only sometimes with 720p however ALWAYS with 1080p at 60 Hz. i.e. There is only ever an audio stream for 1080p 60 Hz on iPad Mini with Retina.
Tested starting stream multiple times.
Hi Guys:
Not a real issue, but just a word of support. I recently built a new computer. I stumbled across this project (and it's associated instances) and I'm quite interested in the project. I don't have any iOS developer experience, but I am willing to do any testing if desired (I have a developer account, so I can compile to my iPad (3rd Gen) or iPhone (4S) without issue).
Close this issue as desired, but just a word of support that I think this project has the potential to be really sweet, for playing some games, to spectating DOTA2 matches. Coupled with an iOS BT Controller + HDMI Adapter it could create a really nifty and portable TV streaming device!
:)
iPhone 5s: Pangu 8.1 jailbreak
Has anyone managed to get this working with any build of limelight so far? I'm looking to find a solution for the L3 + R3 issue as this cripples most gameplay in supported Xbox controller enabled games.
Will limelight-ios eventually make use of Metal and/or the GameController APIs?
App works great, and im not sure if this is just me, but my bluetooth keyboard isn't working. Is there a special tutorial for this, or this just not implemented yet?
Currently Steam is launched by default. It would be nice to be able to launch any GameStream app.
NOTE: This is currently being included in the new UI, I'm just making the issue so everyone knows it's coming.
On iOS I imagine most users will be using a MFi certified controller. Due to the MFi controller spec, none of those controllers will include L3, R3, Back, or Guide button. I think a possible solution for this would be to place soft-controls on screen to account for the missing buttons, or use swipes / gestures as appropriet.
For example I am use a Moga Rebel with my iPhone 6+. I would image a tap in the lower left square of the screen for L3, a tap in the lower right square for R3, a double-tap anywhere for the Guide button to bring up the steam overlay, and a maybe a swipe from the left edge of the screen to trigger the Back button.
This concept could be further expanded to allow playing controller based games purely on the touchscreen (which could make sense on a large device like the iPad) without even needing a hardware controller, or for allowing basic MFi controllers (like the Logitech Powershell or Razer Junglecat) to use the full range of buttons.
Additionally if Limelight is ever published in the App Store then Apple's guidelines require physical controller support to be optional (so touch controls would be a requirement anyways).
IPhone 5s: pangu 8.1 jailbreak
Limelight 0.2.2 (2)
I have tried both "controllers for all" and "mfi wrapper". For some reason both a PS3 controller and Wii U Pro controller don't always allow input to steam or a few games such as Left for Dead 1/2, MGS Ground Zeroes, Dead Rising 3, Goat Simulator, to name some. I used six pair tool on windows 8.1 to set the MAC address for the PS3 controller. Both controllers do work with things like RetroArch or Oceanhorn.
Hi,
I cloned and compiled Limelight via Xcode to run on my 5s (jailbroken as well as developer device).
Pairing is successful on the device but trying to start steam doesn't work. it "Cannot" find the requested game.
Limelight works fine on the Mac as well as on the Ouya and my Android phone.
I'm running iOS 8.1 and GFE 2.1.4.0
There was no difficulty when pairing. Computer showed up immediately when app was started, the code dialog popped up on the computer and the computer was successfully paired. However, when trying to start the stream on ANY resolution/fps combo, it says "Unable to Connect".
The same computer works perfectly with Limelight on an Android device.
When trying to pair again, Limelight-iOS app says "Error - Already Paired"
Hi,
thans for access to beta..
from what I see product is good so far..
so now time for requests in future releases:
*Gamepad (Apple MFI) support: with that you can also support popular gamepads as PS3,PS4 Dualshock with ControllersforAll hack.. I assume that is on the Android gamestream product..
*Also seems changing brightness while streaming resets the stream.. can you avoid that?
Also this week have been news that seems PS4 remote play Android app works on lots of Android devices like Shield tablet.. see for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgI-fOsiekw
So don't know if your experience in limelight could also help in bringing some PS4 remote play similar project product to bring PS4 Remote Play to PCs and IOS?
do you want to work on that?
I would like to help beta test. [email protected]
In it's current state, the app will search for nearby computers on wifi, but for wired computers I have to manually enter the IP Address every time. To save me the hassle, a recent connections list would be neat. That or a "Connect to last PC" button that just pulled the most recent IP used and started a stream that way.
Hi,
I was seeing this project and seems all test reports are using A7 chips (ipad air, ipad mini retina,etc..) or newer devices.. I have an Ipad 4 (a6x) and hope support is there, right?
also I see beta testing is in place via TestFlight.. can you enroll me to the beta test?
I have
PC
intel q9450
geforce 970
6gb
windows 10 tp
Ipad4
Has anyone else successfully used this other than their Host PC's network? Or has this not been implemented yet in the iOS version yet?
Pretty self explanatory. When I first selected my PC, I put in the code and paired it successfully. After that, tapping my PC name makes the app crash.
iPhone 5C jailbroken on iOS 8.1
Today I just upgrade limelight to 0.3.2 and upgrade GFE TO 2.2.2 on my PC.
When I try to connect lime light keep crashing. i try to delete the app and re install but it wont work.
I try both on my ipad air 2 and iphone 5s, no work either
Just been and bought a ps4 controller today to test the app some more. The app runs fine and smooth right up until I connect the ps4 controller with controllers for all. It took me a while to track down why it was doing it because everything works fine on my Xperia with the pad connected. As soon as I get the controller connected notification on my iPhone 6 8.1 I laggs really bad no just video but audio too.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with c4a or the app but just wondered if anyone else has the same problem.
I'll do some more testing in around an hour or so to see if I say for definite what the exact issue is.
Hi, i've been waiting this for so long! Already a limelight user on android, but I'd prefer it on my ipad by far. Is there a chance I help with the beta ? I'm on iphone 5s and iPad 3. Please let me know. Thanks!
My email is: caronter02 at gmail dot com
I have few ideas for the future of the app.
1 - A little tutorial
2 - Possibility to have a favorite PC, when launching the app we are automatically connected to this PC.
3 - Possibility to organize apps, like the homescreen of an android device. (Principal screen with favorite games, and a button to have acces to all other games).

Hi, i just use limelight on android, and it's great !
My spec is i7 4790K oc 5ghz, 16gbyte ram and gt9700
Now i've bought and ipad mini retina and if u need i can make some test for u !
Say me something ;)
I saw the warning about not trying to build, but I had to make it work. So I have it launching Bioshock Infinite on my windows machine, but....
It crashs when executing the "DecoderThreadProc". In the void* ThreadProc(void* context) method, ctx->entry(ctx->context); throws a EXE_BAD_ACCESS error.
Also weird enough, I was able to "Pair" my mackbook pro to my windows machine, and the ipad also had access, but i guess the unique identifier is all that really matters for pairing.
Hi guys & girls, can't seem to see the builds in the Test Flight App online and in the app. Do I have to added it manually?
I'm using an iPhone 6 plus, 8.1.1 jailbroken with Taig. The stream works, loads, pairs, and even recognizes my DualShock4 controller (used with the controllers for all tweak) but after that things start getting.. Weird...
The menu is navigated with the circle and square buttons, for Xbox that would be X and B, which is weird but manageable. Once I load up a save the controls continue to baffle me. The triggers seem to rotate the camera and the right analog stick has no function at all! The game is completely unplayable. Any idea why this is happening?
I tried running the DS4 tool on my computer, having it on/off has no affect. I can't figure it out. Is it the game? Or my phone?

If you are interested in being a beta tester for Limelight-iOS, please reply to this issue with your email.
Once you are added, you will get an email from TestFlight. Follow the instructions in this email to add your iOS device. Once a new build of Limelight-iOS is released, you will receive a notification with instructions on how to install it on your device.
FAQ on using TestFlight as a tester is available here: http://help.testflightapp.com/customer/portal/articles/1339397-getting-started-as-a-tester
Please note that Limelight-iOS is still beta software, so you may encounter some issues. If you do encounter an issue, please report it by creating a new Github issue, and try to be as detailed as possible.
Thanks for helping to make Limelight-iOS happen!
[email protected]. Thanks guys keep up the slick work
For example, Civ V was installed when in first setup limelight. Now it's removed, but limelight still shows it in the list. Attempting to launch it from limelight starts the steam game install wizard.
This will have to wait until after the release, I'm sure, with the other non essential feature additions, but I'd love to be able to adjust the sensitivity on the mouse cursor. Right now it's moving too slow for my taste.
On the latest build, I can pair with success, but when I touch the computer, the app crash.
When streaming at a lower resolution, like the one listed above, the input from my iPad is way off. The cursor doesn't align exactly with where my finger is. This causes issues with navigating and selecting as I have to compensate for the space between my finger and the cursor. For reference, the monitor I am using is 1920x1200, but the resolution does change when GameStream is open.

Im testing limelights latest build with controllers for all and the ipega 9023 which is a standard hid controller that works perfectly as a MFI controller with that app. All keys work as intend with all MFI games (r2 r1 l1 l2 start select etc) L3/R3 however supposedly not supported by MFI
However with limelight:
R2/R1 are switched to opposites L2/L1 are switched to opposites
L3 and R3 do not work
select button gives disconnect controller option instead
Note: ipega 9023 connects to controllers for all as ipega 9025.
exact same layout and standard hid keys so it works fine as a mfi controller
Having a jailbroken device, I was wondering if using a PS4 controller with Controllers For All and then running Limelight would work. And if it does, do I need to set it up somewhere?
Hello,
I wondered if there is any progress on the ios version. Because I would really like this one. I tried building this version but I dont know how to get the common libraries.
On the android version of Limelight, in the Games List I can touch the last game I played and it will give me the option to either Resume Session or Exit Session. On the iOS version when I touch the last game played it automaticlly launches the current stream again, I don't get the option to close session. I can't find a way to close the current stream/session down on my PC from within the iOS app.
I'm new to iOS, I've only had my iPad for 6 days, possibly I'm just overlooking something simple or is this feature not implented yet?
Thanks in advanced

It would be awesome if limelight requested the video stream at the same resolution (or at least same aspect ratio) as the device.
I know this is possible and we've tested it out, but I want to make an issue as to not forget about it. Also, I know others will appreciate knowing this will be added.
If you are in the middle of a stream and you pull up control center, the stream will stop on your device, but not on your computer. You can always re-connect, and re-establish a connection, but if a person is, for example, streaming TF2 and accidentally pulls up control center mid game, that is not good.
It seems that the slider for setting the bitrate is too short for having such a large range (from 0 all the way to 50 Mbps). I find it difficult to set specific values, especially something below 10 Mbps (which I do for using limelight remotely).
I'm able to initiate a stream and select games, but, when the game starts, the lag begins.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do this, but I'm using a wireless xbox controller to control the game. I understand limelight is meant to work with MFi controllers, but I only want to stream in the same room as my comp, so I figured I'd just use my existing controller (I have a mount for my 6plus on my xbox controller). It works perfect in the Steam menu. Virtually no input/video/audio lag (minus some audio cut-outs here and there), but everything changes when a game starts. It will not register input most of the time, and, when it does, it will receive one button press per 10, and repeat it. The video and audio also degrade dramatically. Sometimes the feed will just freeze altogether.
I don't know what changing the bitrate does, so maybe I only need to change that. It may be the router, but I am getting 50mbs down and 50mbs up, and I have my computer wired directly to the router. Are there any settings in the router that I should change? Or my comp/app?
Thank you for any help, and just let me know if you need more info!
I reported earlier that the banner notifications on the iPad cause the stream's video to turn black. The audio remains intact and is reactive to the controller. There is no sign of this on the streaming computer, and the stream does not return to normal once the banner notification has disappeared.
