Slow GUI

Description

The GUI can become very slow after some time and it might take a long time until it responses to a click.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run TranSPHIRE with a few thousand micrographs

Expected behavior: Everything runs till the end

Actual behavior: The main thread of the GUI seem to hang after some time.

Reproduces how often: Almost every time

Additional Information

Known workaround:

Use the TranSPHIRE GUI in monitor mode to visualize the plots in real-time (can run on the same machine just in another terminal).
