Welcome to the machine.

This is my GitHub profile. For social media, GitHub is my second-favourite site to use, after Twitter of course.

I am a computer scientist and researcher at heart. Naturally, I live and work from home in the Research Triangle. My most prized work is on well-behaved systems, which I have spent several years slowly building towards through research. I realised years ago that something was wrong with how people approached systems programming, and have always been aghast at the cynical culture that arose to cope with the inability of engineers to deal with the machine. To solve this, I wrote several essays exploring the issue, and resolved to create C*, a programming language.

Besides the research work, I also have several projects in the works together, many of which are under the Aquefir banner. This includes Neopolitan C, the Cave Of Origin, the Slick Makefiles, SLI documentation, a modular programming guide, and the Command Line Interface Guide. I also made a protocol for Git repository structure that has a palette canon for issue labels, and a colour palette of various programming languages.

saturn's Issues

Create a fully automated Makefile

Should include facilities for C++, GNU Assembly, and PNG images. Should be able to execute in a single step, producing a binary runnable in an emulator.

Write an IRQ handler

This will have to be done in ARMv4 assembly, and should at least handle interrupts for V-Blanking.

Implement smart pointers

A better alternative to garbage collection built into the Saturn framework.

The implementation should be as similar as possible to the standard library specification, although it doesn’t have to be identical.

Create function skeletons for the four main modules

These should just be in the header files – don’t worry about any implementations yet.

Note: These should be for the source headers in /src, not the public interface in /include!

Create a basic asynchronous task system

Should be hooked into the mainloop, with the task set executed every frame.

Create a basic mainloop

Needed for a continuously running engine, and for the asynchronous task system, among other things.
