Advice, please

Looks like a very clean image site. I have some questions, please

1. can the images directory reside outside of the application site?
2. does the images directory represent a full tree of albums, sub-albums, images based simply on directory structure?
3. I would like to store the image metadata (like description, date, etc) in a xml or json file in the same dir with each image. So if there is an image named image324.png, there would be an associated image named image324.png.json.

Looking at code I suppose I would modify image.js and storage.js to re-define the storage as a disk file.

Any advice would be appreciated.
