artwork's Issues

repository still seems to have a lot of small files checkout took almost 40minutes

lkocman@linux:~/Workspace/opensuse> git clone [email protected]:openSUSE/artwork.git
Cloning into 'artwork'...
remote: Enumerating objects: 9214, done.
remote: Total 9214 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0), pack-reused 9214
Receiving objects: 100% (9214/9214), 4.89 GiB | 3.16 MiB/s, done.
Resolving deltas: 100% (4976/4976), done.

Initial 40% were really slow, rest was done like in 5 minutes. So something tells me that first 4 GiB of the repository deserves a proper cleanup.

can we split it?

Hi,

I want commit some of my work on zh.opensuse.org wiki banner back,

but this repository is so large that I can't download under limited bandwidth. (about 1G)

Can we split it or can I email my files to others who already can commit?

Marguerite

Mugs for openSUSE conference 2019 / merge GSoC mugs to main repo

@hellcp as asked - here comes the issue.

Could you create a mug based on:

https://github.com/openSUSE/artwork/blob/master/Logo/oSC19%20logo%20with%20name.png

And merge the mug designs from this repo please:

https://github.com/raniaamina/artwork/tree/master/Marketing%20Materials/miscellaneous/GSoC%20Mugs

My favourite colour for a mug (regarding costs and easyness of ordering as well) would be a black mug. So the design should work on a black background. I'm pretty sure it will be hard to impossible getting the "smaller" amount of mugs for oSC19 in the correct openSUSE blue color code, like used in the following example.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/raniaamina/artwork/master/Marketing%20Materials/miscellaneous/GSoC%20Mugs/mugs_by_rania_1.png

Initial idea comes from @Ana06 and you can see the trello comments about it here:
https://trello.com/c/qlLFoGf7/111-get-prices-on-backpacks-on-tshirts-for-osc19#comment-5be4beeedbf16c0c8cf19b2c

Thanks a bunch in advance =)

Update to the CC BY-SA 4.0 license

Project mentions all content in is licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0 unless otherwise stated.

SUSE Open Source policy currently recommends CC BY-SA 4.0 for new docs && artwork

Do we want to re-consider license of the repo?

Success story from wikipedia
Wikipedia's update to the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, from the previous CC BY-SA 3.0 license, helps to make the project more accessible, globally compatible, simplified, and readable. For years, new knowledge created under the 4.0 license could not be directly added to Wikipedia

Thank you

Make a few generic images for news-o-o

We need a few 1920x1080 images for articles in news-o-o, just for stylistic consistency and having at least an image per article.

Topics:

  • Tumbleweed review of the week/month/year (Needs logo revamp first)
  • Summit/Conference
    • Call for papers
    • Announcements
    • Summaries
  • Election announcements
  • Artwork competitions
  • Leap releases (Needs logo revamp first)

Designs for openSUSE swag for this year

Hello,

Every year, we create some new openSUSE swag that we then use at conferences, openSUSE booths, university job fairs and other events in the Czech Republic. For this year, we would like to create something new, not just putting openSUSE chameleon or Alex on the T-Shirt. I was told that the openSUSE Artwork group could help us with that.

So I would like to open this issue as a kind request for your designs for our merch for this year. It would be great to have something cool and special or something with a story behind it (e.g. I think that the T-Shirts "Release is coming" were pretty popular).

We can collect your ideas for few weeks and select the best one in the end. I hope that there will be a lot of interesting ideas. And if not, in the worst case, we can always use the good old Geeko :)

What do you think about it?

Tumbleweed icon

The tumbleweed icon has very thin stroke. Compared to the solid leap icon, it looks very thin and short.

How about make it something round/square? The following icon is a good example, look like a real tumbleweed plant.

LibreOffice can't open openSUSE-Template-2019.otp

When trying to open openSUSE-Template-2019.otp with LibreOffice 6.2 (libreoffice-6.2.3.2-2.1.x86_64) on Tumbleweed 20190502, CPU load goes to 100% and Gnome reports the application as 'not responding'. I need to kill LibreOffice at this point.

update branding-guidelines regarding format

I would like to see, if we could add mandantory free formats to our branding guidlines here:

http://opensuse.github.io/branding-guidelines/

I understand, the need of proprietary tooling in the graphics industry, as we should not limit somebody's creativity by forcing them to use free software tools with which they are less productive and more blocked.
But most software tools (like Adobe AI, Adobe PS, CorelDraw, etc.) are able to export .eps or .svg as "free and compatible" formats that others in the community, who only have Inkscape and want to work with the files can start from there.

That's why I suggest to add free formats as mandatory export for our artwork, next to the Adobe and PNG files, in our artwork repository.

@hellcp @cboltz @Ana06 @sysrich - adding board to maybe take care of this issue =)

add openSUSE conference Logos in free format

@ddemaio the openSUSE conference logos are only there in a bitmap-format (png) and in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) but not in an .svg or .eps format which would be readable by free software tools like Inkscape etc.

Can you please add the conference logos of this and the last years in free formats?

Thanks a bunch.

Make relevant branding more visible

This repository is very confusing to use, finding anything is really hard, unless you know where it is, or you put it there before.

I suggest more streamlined approach, categorical one, which would highlight stuff that is compatible with our current branding guidelines.

Where Slides is perfect example of the structure. Majority of stuff would be in main directory to have it easily accessible. All the stuff that is no longer relevant (due to being from old release or event or not being made in current branding guidelines) would be in Old directory.
