atom-panel's Issues

Hide Legacy Notifications Pane Toggle

In my limited testing so far of the beta I was very confused by the legacy notification pane toggle. Since at no point did I have any apps with legacy notifications I couldn't figure out what the toggle did, and had to ask in the G+ Community.

I think it might make more sense to hide this toggle if there are no legacy notifications. When a legacy notification appears the toggle does as well. This should retain functionality while minimizing the chance of confusion.

Some programs don't appear

If I'm understanding rightly it's supposed to take all the stuff from notification panel and put it in the top bar? Currently neither Rhythmbox nor Transmission will go up there. They seem to pick one of the two (usually notification pannel) at random :(

Panel does not apply shell themes

The panel does not apply any shell themes. If you already had a theme applied, it wont revert correctly once you disable the extension.

Activities should be an icon or a label "Overview"

If possible instead of label activities, we should display label "Overview" or symbolic icon (view-more-symbolic) from our icon theme.
Check the attached screenshot.
screenshot from 2015-02-23 13 56 12

This is achievable with the "Activities Configurator" gnome-shell extension (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/358/activities-configurator/), however:
A) We need it to just set the label to "overview" or use the "view-more-symbolic" icon
B) It doesn't respect symbol icons recolouring, it hardcodes the icon to whatever .svg file one has picked
C) We don't needs its additional option

If we're to use it in our panel, we must fix these three things.

Settings of current application not accessible

Right after the Word/Button "Activities" on the top left side. There is an arrow pointing down for access to the Options of the opened program. Right now the arrow is there but no action happens if you click it. Therefore you cannot get to the options/settings of some programs that do not have an other way to do so like gedit and many others.

Atom panel tray and Gnome messages / notifications area: same icons on both

Hello @cldx @me4oslav and all te OzonOS devs, I noted something by using your OS and it is that the same hidden icons what are displayed on the panel's hidden tray by pressing the show tray icon are displayed on the GNOME shell messages / notifications area too, I have the idea of add to the atom panel extension some kind of code to hide the tray icons located on the messages area but showing all the notifications sent by the apps including Software empathy etc. etc. why? simply because it will be better for the general look and feel of Atom shell, also maybe add to the same extension on the panel a notifications icon to show or hide the notification area and remove the activation of the mentioned area by going to the buttom side of the screen, this will make easier and more confortable get acces to the dock when hidden and aso improve the overall experience even more

HELP WANTED: Need developers for Atom Panel

First read this: https://lists.launchpad.net/numix/msg00221.html

The plan is to create a AtomPanel class, which is instanced in extension.js. The atom panel class will be in atompanel.js.

Panel requirements:

  • Panel loses background and borders when in Overview mode. (Is done by the Ozon-shell-theme)
  • Legacy tray icons are hidden behind an arrow on the panel. Click it and you get them, click it again and you hide them. We even have a symbolic icon in the icon theme for that.

I hope some people will pick this up, since this is a big part of the project.

For more information about this extension (and others) see the development document.
