- A GitHub Account
- GitHub Desktop
- Text Editor (we prefer Sublime, but Atom is also good)
- File Manager (to rename files)
- Windows Explorer or Mac OS Finder (whatever you have)
- Something to say
- Pictures (optional)
You may want to spend a little time learning how to use markdown, as it'll make putting your content together faster. There is a tutorial here: The Magic of Markdown
If you want to use GitHub Desktop when setting up your website, open up intermediate/githubPagesTutorial.Rmd
. Then it's just a matter of following directions.
Our easier version is available in easy/tutorialEasyVersion.Rmd
. It only requires a laptop and a GitHub account.
During the workshop, be sure to use your Post-Its if you're stuck, and one of us will help you.
This tutorial uses Mark Otto's Hyde Template for Jekyll with some simple modifications to make it Jeykll 3.0 Compatible
