what-hn-says-webext's Issues

HTTPS search

I assume just adding an 's' to the API URL would improve security/privacy.
Unless there is a reason not to?

Ability to sort the results

Using the extension on generic domains like github.com show all the posts related to github.com sorted by popularity(i think). Is it possible to allow for an option to sort by time?

The algolia api provides this facility and can be used for this.

Thread not found if URL contains UTM-related query parameters

Hello,

I notice that the extension sometimes can't find the thread if the link contains UTM-related parameters. These are usually generated when clicking to links from newsletters and can be safely removed to improve search quality. What do you think?

Example: https://www.deprocrastination.co/blog/how-to-be-productive-without-forcing-yourself?utm_source=hackernewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=fav

Works after removing all the params: https://www.deprocrastination.co/blog/how-to-be-productive-without-forcing-yourself

If you're busy I can also help with a PR. Thanks for making this extension btw :)

Add search for other sharing sites?

Hi Pino, thanks for this great extension. I've grown the habit to click this every time I finished an interesting read ;) However, something feels missing: besides HN, there's lobste.rs, there's reddit, and the fediverse has lemmy. It's good to see different people talk about the same thing. Also, though unfortunate, some people have grown dislike to "the orange site".

I'm happy to implement this ;) but the name might have to be changed, something like "What They Say".
