How did you get the communications protocol?

Did you have to do some reverse engineering in order to sus out the communications protocol? Did you just watch the packets being sent over the network when using the official library?

Use ntohl instead of hand byte swapping

Hi, thank you for the code :) This is just a note from fellow network programmer: ntohl does the byte order conversions for you, no need for doing it by hand. Cheers!

How to find out the protocol for getting measurment?

Hello, i am currently trying to read data from LK laser sensor from keyence.
i know this pkg is for LJ Linescanner but i thought it would be similar.
So i decided to check how your pkg was made. i went through LJ sensor's manual which was
"LJ-V7000 Series Communication Library" this one.

But i couldn't find out how you come up with protocol (or send msg like this one
0x14, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x00, 0xF0, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x08, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x41, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 ) that is explained in xls file.

I know this is not the right place for asking this question. But if you can explain little bit more how you find out the protocol that explained in xls file,
i would really appreciate !! thx !!

Why is this code not work on the Window?

Hello, i am trying to Read the simple output data from the LJ-V7000 Sensor.
And i found this code but it doesn't work on the Window.
I changed few Socket function to suit window env but i only get 4 byte.

I tried this code on linux environment and it works fine.
i could just use the linux for the project but i want to know what is the problem.

I know this repo is old but if you have any idea, let me know. i would appreciate
