AVIF Support

When building Chatterino 7, you might not have access to a static build of libavif. In that case, you can define CHATTERINO_NO_AVIF_PLUGIN in CMake. If you have qavif.so from kimageformats installed on your system, Chatterino will pick it up and use AVIF images.

Nightly build

You can download the latest Chatterino 2 build over here

You might also need to install the VC++ Redistributables from Microsoft if you do not have it installed already.
If you still receive an error about MSVCR120.dll missing, then you should install the VC++ 2013 Restributable.

To get source code with required submodules run:

Git blame

This project has big commits in the history which touch most files while only doing stylistic changes. To improve the output of git-blame, consider setting:

git config blame.ignoreRevsFile .git-blame-ignore-revs

This will ignore all revisions mentioned in the .git-blame-ignore-revs file. GitHub does this by default.

Code style

The code is formatted using clang-format. Our configuration is found in the .clang-format file in the repository root directory.

chatterino7's Issues

Subscriber Emotes Menu not working correctly.

Hello, here are some issues i've been happening since animated emotes were added.

Major Issues:

• A row of emotes in the menu are duplicated sometimes up to 3 times.
• Several emotes are missing either rows of emotes or individuals from a set.
• New emotes are not added even after refreshing and several days.

Minor Issues:

• Refreshing emotes (F5) makes all/most sub emotes dissapear.
• Follower twitch emotes do not display.

This has always been an issue in chatterino 7 but I never reported it.
I made two 128x128 black square emotes to test this out

When you zoom in at a certain point the 7tv emotes get smaller than other emotes but even if you just barely zoom in 7tv emotes get a bit smaller.
FFZ and BTTV emotes behave the same.

The dependency list in BUILDING_ON_LINUX.md is missing the qt5-imageformats required to display WEBP images (used by 7TV).

Chatterino7 shifted to the left when using Chatterino Native Host Chrome extension

Issue:
When using the Chatterino Native Host Chrome extension, Chatterino7 appears shifted to the left compared to where it should be.

BTTV doesn't have priority over 7TV

Describe your issue
On FFZ's 7TV add-on, BTTV has priority, however on the Chatterino version, 7TV added emotes with the same name have priority over BTTV. Messing with priority settings on the 7TV emote didn't fix it either.

overwatch league emotes not showing up in emote tab and cant tab it

so yea its exclusively the overwatch league emotes i can still see pride emotes or other empotes that you could get in twitch like 2fa and such in the emotes tab under global but the overwatch league is missing and another anyoing thing is that the glitchcon emotes are still in the subs tab if that could be moved to the global tab it would be cool

"Color @usernames" doesn't work

The option "Color @usernames" doesn't seem to work. "@username" in chat messages stays white. This options works in the main chatterino fork.

Can only use the new emote once chatterino has been restarted.

Tooltips for zero-width emotes are inaccessable

Settings not saving when restarting

Hello,
I am using the 7tv version chatterino and the settings are not savings, only 2 channels out of 7-8 I added the first time are saved, I have to enter my twitch token everytime I restart the software and add the others channels aswell, everything reset if I restart Chatterino.

I am not having the issue with the normal version of chatterino. I use the 2.3.4 version for both chatterino (7.3.4 for 7TV).

Some Nametag Paints Increase the Size of Usernames on Mac

Username highlight in name color broken

The name colors on one of the most recent nightly builds (commit 9b3fe66) no longer show up.

Type the name of a user who has sent a message in the channel, and their name is typically highlighted in their name color (with my settings).

Loading previous messages not working

Loading previous messages that were sent before Chatterino was open is not functional anymore, stopped working this morning when I started Chatterino. I tried reinstalling, didn't work. This feature was working as intended yesterday.

bttv emotes not loading

I installed the 7tv chatterino fork on Linux Ubuntu 20 but all my bttv emotes are not loading, this error is from the logs:
Failed to fetch BetterTTV channel emotes. (timed out)
I'm not sure if this is a knows issue

"Open stream in browser" not functional on Linux

Paints leak memory

The implementation of paints leaks memory because it uses new (1 2 3 ) in a loop and never frees that memory. If paints are to ever be reloaded, old pains are gonna stay in memory. IMO either use a std::shared_ptr or delete these manually just before loading the new ones.

Will you please allow "notify when online" notifications without login, or provide a 2.1.0 installer

This post will be a disaster to format, so please bear with me.

Chatterino dropped support for Windows 7 on version 2.1.0 (this being the last version supporting windows 7). Coincidentally, Version 2.2.0 was the last one to allow "notify when online" notifications; version 2.2.1 was the first to require logging in to have "notify when online" notifications (there is other functionality logging in allows, but I am not educated on them). chatterino no longer able to pull stream online status while anonymous Chatterino#1915

I am not sure if chatterino began supporting Windows 7 again or not, but I was no longer able to find mentions of the last Windows 7 version being 2.1.0 past the above screenshot of their website. I was actually able to install the latest version for Windows normally a few weeks ago, despite my operating system being Windows 7, but I reverted back to 2.1.0 just because the latest chatterino required logging in for "notify when online" notifications, as I've established earlier.

No. This idea was already brought up before. Chatterino does not want to start helping ban circumventions.

So therein is my difficult to explain feature request. I will try to summarize what I'm asking for:

• A chatterino7 release that is discrepant from the chatterino2 philosophy of not allowing non-logged in users to receive "notify when online" notifications (among other features)
• A chatterino7 release that supports Windows 7 (my understanding was that 2.1.0 was the last version to support Windows 7, but at some point that appears to've changed, so perhaps this is just a given)

I guess that's it? I still had trouble formatting this, even if I can tersely communicate what I wanted, at the end of it. If nothing else, will you please spoonfeed me a chatterino7 version of the 2.1.0 installer? The 2.1.0 version on your github is just the source code, which gave me grey hairs trying to work out. For the time being I'm still on the plain chatterino 2.1.0, which doesn't have 7tv emotes.

edit: removed citing "protection from global bans" quote as demonstrating that chatterino used to willingly allow "notify when online" notifications without login. I realize now that "global bans" likely meant regions in the world, and was independent of their unwillingness to willingly provide this functionality to chatterino users who don't log in.

follow command broken?

tried to use "/follow zneix" inside chatterino today but didn't work, i got as output: "User zneix could not be followed, an unknown error occurred!"

Tried a couple of streamers also, same result. I don't think it's a problem on my end, but i am not fully sure.

Blocked users appears on chat

Application often shows messages from blocked users (I checked couple of times) and sometimes Ignore Highlights are checked, it's about random users from the blocked list, there is no regular rule when they show.
I've got a list of around 200 blocked users on twitch, when the amount was small it didn't occur.

Colored Usernames not colored

Hi, was just chatting with someone, they also said they were facing this issue, so I figured I'd bug report.

It seems like the Colorized Usernames feature is no longer working. They just appear white. I noticed it in the main and nightly builds. I checked my settings to verify they were proper, and yeah. I tried disabling the settings, re-enabling them, still bugged.
I thought I saw them work the other night, but I honestly I think I was using the wrong version on accident when I first booted..

Username colors in chat aren't working, but when you build it in debug colors do work again, when you switch to release or profile. Colors are broken again. Isn't a chatterino issue because colors work for me on chatterino 2.3.2

"Flathub is a centralized repository of Flatpak apps. It provides a single point of entry for distributing apps on the most popular Linux distributions. "
I and possibly many others prefer to download flatpaks from flathub rather than manually installing packages. And I was wondering if you plan or might care to add your project to the repository (I'd like to point out that the original chatterino project is there already).
Although anyone can submit any app, it is advised to contact the developer first. If you want to learn more about flathub and the process of submitting your app you can read about it here.

[Mac OS] In the last day or two, Twitch emotes have become unavailable. This includes both sub emotes and Twitch global emotes. 7TV, BTTV, and FFZ emotes are still working. I have signed out & in through the Chatterino app, re-installed, and signed out & in through Twitch external permissions. I have used Chatterino for months and never before had this issue. Using Chatterino 7.3.4 but also tried on 2.3.4 and had the same issue.

Snapping chatterino to the edge of the screen extends left, right, and bottom sides of the app off screen

When I drag chatterino to the edge of the screen on windows 10 to make it half the screen, the left edge is partly on my other monitor and the bottom is partly off screen.

Show when a 7tv emote is "aliased" in hover preview.

Describe your issue

When you hover over an emote, it shows the emote name, author and provider. It would be nice to include information about a channel alias, if relevant, like the original name.
