Comparison with GZIP+JSON

Of course, nested binary data is unsupported by JSON.

But, it would be interesting to see how gzip+nason compares with gzip+json in terms of size and encoding/decoding performance.

Floating point support

Hi @simonwep, can you explain the problems you've had with implementing float support?

Make `utils.pack` work with empty buffer

Right now, passing an empty buffer to utils.pack results in this error:

RangeError: Invalid typed array length: -Infinity

Bug with unpack chaining

The issue is with this line here:

It's using .buffer which returns the original buffer, but uses the wrong byte offset.

I tried changing it to new Uint8Array(val.buffer, val.byteOffset + 1) but that still had a bug. For example, if decoding a string, the decoded string would have a leading space for some reason. (eg: "foo" would be " foo").

Next, I tried doing val.slice(1) instead, and that works as expected. Is using slice worse for performance?
