I just report the same problem in issue #13. All asian characters (which are unicode) are doomed in Chrome.
But it is just fine under firefox. (win7 32, firefox 25, english edition)

The way I handle it for now is: download the source code, rebuild it with node-webkit, then it can be run as a desktop application so there is no encoding issue anymore.

Currently I have no solution for this problem. For accessing the filesystem in chrome I am using the https://bitbucket.org/ryanackley/npapi-chrome-file-api library which is based on firebreath.org. It appears, these projects have some issues with the handling of unicode characters.

and checked out its source code to have a try.
Almost fixed, only one problem left, which I have no idea how to deal with.
Hoping it will be fixed by the author...
