Camera not rendering grass

I manage to go through the directions including setting an empty layer, etc.

The resulting grass gets created (i can see an outline of it in the editor that reacts to wind params, etc.) but nothing is seen in the scene view. It seems the rendered grass object has the default material assigned, etc.

(I assume the camera culling script has nothing to do with it. Should I assign that in some way?)

Also I tried using a terrain and not a cube and nothing seemed to be created. Will try again.

Getting Errors when iported (2017.4.1)

These errors:
