tbdialout's Issues

URL option

Would it be possible to have a URL option to use with a snom phone?

Not (marked as) compatible with Thunderbird 60

The add-on worked fine in Thunderbird 59.2.1, so hopefully it should be possible to make it (or just mark it) compatible with Thunderbird 60.

A simple change of maxVersion in install.rdf seems to work for me.

Addressbook Dialout - Linux and Windows Tested (same results)

Hi - TBDialOut works with contacts in the 'Outlook' addressbook (linked to my Outlook.com account), and to phone numbers added to my 'collected addresses' and Personal addressbook. Outlook is linked with the 'Provider for Exchange'.

It will not dial any phone numbers in either my yahoo, iCloud, or google (gmail) addressbooks. I am syncing all addressbooks with TBird using Tbsync. These leverage the 'Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV'' or 'Provider for Exchange ActiveSync.'

My Gmail addressbook that is sync'd with gContactSync will allow for dialing from TBDialOut.

Very odd - apparently, TBDialOut does not parse the field value as a phone string in the 'CardDAV' based addressbooks, (even as input formatting is identical between working and non-working examples).

TBsync is very powerful, easy, and stable - and preferred by me over gContactSync (working with contacts and tasks for Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail, and iCloud).

Please take a look - I am sure there is a minor tweak that would enhance the value of TBDialOut.

Doesn't work anymore with TB >=78

On my test/playground VM, running win8.1, TB updated itself to v78.0.1 and TBDialout doesn't work anymore. TBD is available and active in TB's Tools/Addons menu, but Tools/Addon Settings is gone just as the dial button and dialling capabilities in addressbook.

Maybe we need another fixup and test run, before everybody else is getting TB78.

Need to be able to treat local numbers differently

In thunderbird TB I have stored the numbers in international code. Example: +49 123 4567 I configured TBDialOut to replace "+" with "00". Everything seem fine, but my providers disallows to dial national calls with 0049123456. What is allowed is to dial 0123456 So what I need is the possibility to replace "+49" with "0"

opening sip uri with custom call

Hi
First of all thank you for this Awesome Thunderbird add-on.
I would like to ask how is possible to call numbers written as sip uri, like this:
[email protected]

I use a yealink t20P and this works well with a uri like this:
https://ip.number.it/cgi-bin/ConfigManApp.com?number=

But I'm not able to use the sip uri syntax through TBDialout, in order to form a http uri like this:
https://ip.number.it/cgi-bin/[email protected]

That works from a browser with yealink Phone.

Is it possible ?

Thank you

Paolo

Ubuntu 18, tbdialout, sip handler

Hi,
actually i am using tbdialout 1.8.0pre1 with Ubuntu 18, Thunderbird 68.7.0, with a snom phone. Works. Now i want to switch to a softphone. Ekiga is installed and works fine together with my sip provider, also by using command line with
ekiga -c sip:<number>@<provider>

in TBDialOut i did the setting to
"userdefinded URL"
and
sip:%NUM%@<sipprovder>
Trying to do a call, i get the message
sip is not a registered protocol or not allowed in this context
(not exactly, cause translated from german)
so i checked your wiki-page, found your advice about regisrtering sip and did this (with and without sudo):
gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/sip/command '/usr/bin/ekiga -c %s' --type String
But the error message stays the same.
Checking the configuration with
gconftool-2 -t /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/sip/command
shows the correct entry.

Any suggestions would be great ...

Call numbers from main TB view or message detail view ?

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the extension and your time on it, it's really nice.
Do you think it would be doable to have the possibility to right click a contact in the main TB view or in the message detail view, and from the contextual menu have the possibility to call him and/or send him a SMS ?
That would be really nice!

Third number not clickable

If you have an address entry which has three or more numbers - e.g. home, work, and mobile - the first two numbers become click-able fields, but the further numbers are not click-able.

This was working but now is not

I'm running TB 78.8.1 with TBDial out 2.0.1. I had to reinstall the OS, Manjaro. Now with TBDial reinstalled it is not doing anything, not highlighting numbers nor dialing. Before I would install it and it would just work, now it doesn't. I've tried SIP, Callto and Tel: protocols. I'm using zoiper for my Softphone.

Trying to use TBDialOut with TB13 and Skype...no work...

Hi. Thanks for writing this plugin -- I thought it was all pretty straightforward, and it almost works on Windows7

But when I actually select a number to dial, the Skype (v5.9) dialing window pops up with an empty phone number. I've tried domestic and international numbers in any format I can think of but Skype just shows a blank window.

Note that Skype's working fine with Firefox: numbers are properly recognized and transferred over to Skype.

I tried this three ways: callto, skype, and sip. I couldn't get sip or skype to work, but by configuring callto I was able to (sort of) make it do what I needed.

UPDATE: found out that the latest rev of skype seems to be a lot picker about its number format...the final number MUST include +1 (or whatever your country code is)...and for some reason it's only accepting numbers via the callto URL.

Thoughts?

Let me know what I can do to troubleshoot this for you -- I want to help.

Does not paste cell phone numbers in Skpe call cell phone input area

Two issues

  1. How to transfer phone number to Skype?
  2. How to call using a Skype name rather than phone number?

How to transfer phone number to Skype?

TBDialOut only opens Skype after pressing TBDialOut's dial button from Thunderbird's address book (TBAB). It stops there. Is there anything that can be done to make TBDialOut actually place the call?

It would be more elegant for TBDialOut to paste actual phone number from TBAB into Skype's "call cell phone" field and finally press enter to start call.

Am I doing something wrong?

How to call using a Skype name rather than phone number?

Also would like to be able to start call using Skype User Name rather than an phone number.
Can it be done? Refer to Skype Name Usage for details.

My Rig

  • OS: Win7 ultimate 32 bit.
  • Skype version 7.8.0.102
  • Thunderbird version: 38.2.0

Contact / Offer tbdialout upgrade

Hi Chris,

Unfortunatly the contact form on your website does not work and I did not find any email. Therefore I try it here:

We are evaluating tbdialout for a commercial customer in Austria. We would need a
price for the upgrade to the current version. Can you give us an
estimate or offer?

Best regards
Greg

TB91 breaks TBDialOut....

Looks like the latest version of TB has broken your excellent plugin.

I cannot see it on any of the menu pages (loads fine per the normal process of adding an extension).

Right-click misnomers

If you Right Click on an address entry the options you get include these:

Call home phone
Call work phone
Call mobile phone

However what these options actually do is call the first listed, second listed, and third listed numbers, respectively.

IE "Call home phone" calls the first listed number whether it is the home number or not
