udsim's Issues

Build Error in logparser.cc

I got the following build error when building UDSim on my Arch Linux:

logparser.cc: In member function ‘std::string LogParser::processNext()’:
logparser.cc:36:14: error: ordered comparison of pointer with integer zero (‘FILE*’ and ‘int’)
   36 |     if(logfp < 0) {
      |        ~~~~~~^~~
make: *** [Makefile:17: logparser.o] Error 1

To fix the issue I changed the corrensponding line to

if(logfp != 0) {

Keep in mind I'm not a C programmer and don't know if that is the way, this issue should be fixed. But for me it works :-)

Diagnostic-Data for UDSim?

Dear Craig Smith and Car Hacking Community,

Im writing my bachelor thesis in automotive security and Im developing a software to analyse the can bus and do uds service discovery etc. To simulate the can traffic and uds answers Im using ICSim and uds-server as well as CaringCaribou. Now I want to implement the uds discovery part of my application and up until now Im using uds-server for simulation, but I just find one ECU when using the uds discovery functionality of Caring Caribou.

It would really be great to get a better simulation so I can test and develop against an more realistic testcase. Im afraid I dont have a "spare" car to test the discovery or a diagnostic tool to get some uds-traffic-logs to feed them to UDSim and get a better simulation of uds traffic.

Now Im wondering If maybe anybody has some old logs or spare uds traffic files to feed to UDSim and train it to get a better simulation? I would be very grateful if anybody could share some data with me so I can use UDSim instead of uds-server.
Or maybe somebody has another idea how to get a better simulation for uds discovery?

Help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

Usage

How does this work when there is no real CAN interface available? I am using ICSim over virtual CAN interface and running UDSim as well on the same interface. I do not understand what I can do with this setup. Could someone explain briefly a bit about what can be achieved with UDSim and ICSim combination?
