I did some research, and it appears the discordRPC library is now deprecated in favor of using the official Discord GameSDK. I have all of the supported platforms, so I can develop a Lua C library that can interface love2d games to the SDK, which could be used by Cambridge. That project could take a while, but it's the "right way" to have Discord functionality right now.
