Dear @chapulina, could you please configure the new melodic-devel
branch as default on github? I don't have permission to do so.
I see that there are three command line options (https://github.com/ros-visualization/rqt_rviz/blob/lunar-devel/scripts/rqt_rviz)
--hide-menu
--display-config
--ogre-log
However I am not able to use it as I launch the rqt_rviz.
This works:
rqt --standalone rqt_rviz
This does not work:
rqt --standalone rqt_rviz --hide-menu
Hi,
I would like to know if you have plans for porting rqt_rviz to ROS 2 anytime soon.
If you do not plan to do so, is there a way (maybe a set of brief tutorials) you could write up to show how it can be done?

Commit #95 very likely causes RViz to crash whenever it is used from the rqt environment. However, RViz does not crash when run as standalone application. This has happend to my experience when drawing OccupancyGrid maps and when drawing Markers as path. Both plugins seem to use ogre::Texture::createInternalResources internally which in the end cause it to crash.
While the application eventually causes the graphics driver to crash, it is not related to a certain GPU driver, version or vendor. I experienced this issue on different machines with drivers from various vendors and e.g. in VirtualBox as well. Instead, this issue seems very much related to threading and the wrong thread accessing the resources that have been/are being created within the Ogre engine.
Summary:
rqt tags/0.2.13 works
rqt tags/0.2.14 crashes

All of the dependencies for this package are available in Melodic, so it would be great to get it released there. Thanks in advance!
This is to remember to move from the lunar specific branch to a single branch for all distros once ros-infrastructure/ros_bootstrap_dependencies#5 is resolved.

It would be very nice to be able to load a .rviz file when loading the rqt_rviz plugin.
Currently it loads whatever is in the ~/.rviz/default.rviz

Why i open rqt_rviz second time, it occur the problem about it. No robot state or robot model loaded.
How can i solve it ?
@chapulina Would you mind releasing rqt_rviz
to ROS Noetic? It looks like all of its dependencies have been released, and it's needed by rqt_robot_plugins
