awesome-quantified-self's Introduction

Awesome Quantified Self Awesome

Carefully curated list of awesome Quantified Self resources.

The Quantified Self is a movement to incorporate technology into data acquisition on aspects of a person's daily life in terms of inputs (e.g. food consumed, quality of surrounding air), states (e.g. mood, arousal, blood oxygen levels), and performance (mental and physical).

Contributions welcome. Add links through pull requests or create an issue to start a discussion.

It's always been sad to see a service shutdown, or hardware stop renew, here is the list we gather that have this tough decision Archived

awesome-quantified-self's Issues

Splitting up Research and Analysis

The "Research and Analysis" seems like it might be better split into three sections:

  • Blood and Biomarker Testing
  • Genetics and DNA Testing
  • Microbiome Testing

This will allow us to better share targeted services for each (both for testing and analytics)

@woop how do you feel about this change?

Android apps for mind and cognition

Lots and lots of games and puzzles on android. For them to be good candidates as cognitive self quantification tests they must have the following features.

Enough puzzles usually through automatic generation. Puzzles should not change much in difficulty or at least include an expected difficulty for that specific puzzle. Timing of each test either by limiting time on test or just measuring how much each test took. Ideally they would export results for multivariate analysis but only quantified mind does this ever. Also nice if tests starts a bit before where it expects user to end up instead of forcing user to start from the easiest levels that are completely boring and useless.

Lumosity Brainilis Elevate and "mental" by peoresnada. All autogenerate and have good timings. Not all start from beginning.

Logic Daily is very different but still satisfies my requirements. It only has one type of test instead of 60 as the other 4. These puzzles are generated by humans, new one daily. Score is time and "expected time" is included with each puzzle. TBH I do not know how good that expectation is.

Some possible additions

integromat Similar to IFTTT and Zapier.
Eventghost and Node-Red Automation similar to Tasker for desktop.
Join Connection between android and desktop made by the creator of Tasker. Useful to pass data between different tools.
Loop Habits Habit tracker.
Renpho Affordable Bluetooth bathroom scales with body composition and app
LastCast Podcast listening tracker.
AndroMoney Personal finance tool.
KWGT Custom widget tool. Create your own dashboard on Android. Can pull data from Tasker.
Rainmeter Custom widgets for Windows. Create your own dashboard on your desktop.

General discussion

Excellent work. I'm Amit Kohli, the guy that recommended this on QS. This is really cool, great job! So a couple of things:
1) how to keep this list up to date
As you mentioned, pull requests... having a few people jumping on here and there should do the trick? Let's try.
2) how to harvest relevant metadata so that we can know properties about them to help users decide
Hard... I can help scrape and build an interface w/ pics etc... but I don't know from where to pull the metadata?

new open source project

I recently created an open source project healt-records. Is a text based tool to keep track of health and fitness data. Please consider adding it to the Open Source section

More accurate descriptions to links

The descriptions to many of the links to the products and services are quite generic. It would be quite useful if some of them could be rewritten by people that have actually used the products.

This would allow visitors to get a clearer picture of what differentiates the products and services.

So this repo has been abandoned?

No activity from @woop in years (except for one approved commit last month?). Orphaned Issues and Pull requests.

Is there an active fork of this repo that is being updated?

Reorganization Ideas

So, I think some reorganization would make sense. I'd suggest we remove general and reoganize it along these lines to add:

  • Aggregators & Dashboards: Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, Gyroscope, Exist.io, Zenobase, Validic, FitnessSyncer
  • Tally: Nomie, Track This For Me, etc.
  • Location: Moves

I'd rename Activity to Activity and Fitness. (FYI - Strava likely should be here rather than under wearables.)

Obviously organization is tough since some of these tools cross categories but I think a rule of thumb could be categorizing according to its primary usage.
