Open Autonomous Safety

OAS is a fully open-source library of Voyage’s safety processes and testing procedures, designed to supplement existing safety programs at self-driving car startups across the world. We aim to make OAS a standard in the industry, driving us all to safer testing and operation of autonomous vehicles. When it comes to safety, we believe open is better, and as such we welcome contributions to make OAS better. The purpose of this project is not to benefit Voyage, but to elevate the field to a higher standard of safety.

Development

Please make sure your version of Node.js is greater than 8.

OAS uses VuePress for site generation

Clone OAS repository

cd ~
git clone https://github.com/voyage/open-autonomous-safety

Install Dependencies

yarn install

Run Vuepress Server Locally

yarn dev

Deployment

Any changes to production will automatically be pushed to production (https://oas.voyage.auto) via Circle CI. This can be done by creating & merging a PR from master -> production.

Reversing Vehicles Scenario Images

Add Sources to Scenario Overview

Asset Change: Vehicle Direction Arrows

Would be nice if those were thicker, and could be enlarged (/resized) safely.

Possibly also re-color them to match the vehicles (black?) and keep blue for pedestrians..

Asset request: safe following distance box/dots

Something to indicate that this is the safe following distance between a lead vehicle and Ego. So maybe a box or dotted lines or something.

these can have some weight but shouldn't be too thick

Stop Sign shouldn't be in Crosswals > Sign. Perhaps Signs (or Features) should be a top-level item.

Should the OAS pages have the OAS favicon? Or is the Voyage favicon intentional?

Asset Change: Golf Carts should be smaller

Golf carts are a different shape than other vehicles, but they're still pretty large. Can they be a little smaller?

Missing Functional Safety from this list

Change Asset: Status

Because of our current convention, the status icons should have the names:

Red: Stopped
Green: Moving
Yellow: Safe State
None: None

I've just been dragging and dropping these images onto Apple Pages to make them. Is there a better way of doing this?

OAS is a fully open-source library of Voyage’s internal safety procedures, materials and test code designed to supplement existing safety programs at autonomous vehicle startups across the world. This alpha release is designed to grow extensively in the coming months. Our aim is to cement OAS as a foundational safety resource in the industry.
